  1. Are you trying to be political here in using the word "swamp"?
  2. The DCA World Rally begins on Saturday October 16, 2021. It is open to all flight sim enthusiasts. DC3 Airways membership is NOT a requirement. Unfortunately, because MSFS 2020 does not yet have a flyable DC3 or C-47 aircraft in its hangar, sim pilots will not be able to use that platform. However, flight descriptions and start up files are included for the other major sims including P3D, X-Plane and FSX. The schedule consists of ten flights from around the world, to be flown in a DC3/C-47. The rally will be spread over thirty days giving pilots a three day time frame in which to complete each flight and file their pirep. More details on when each flight may be flown are given in the World Rally Rules section, which can be found at https://dc3airways.net/wr. The vast majority of navigation is via NDB and VOR navaids, but there is also a considerable amount of navigation by dead reckoning. The goal is to have fun flying a DC3/C-47. But to add more challenge, each flight has a calculated flight time that can be reached using the correct average climb, cruise, descent and approach speed. Some flights are more challenging by the inclusion of specific weather settings. Adverse winds and weather are an ever present danger of this form of navigation, but help is at hand thanks to the venerable E6-B calculator. Professional pilots are well aware of this wonderful tool and how best to use it. If you don't already possess an E6-B, a freeware electronic version is available on the internet and DCA is providing a link to this valuable utility. If you are serious about navigation, take time to learn how to use this tool and your navigational accuracy will be extremely rewarding. All flight descriptions are prepared in both MS Word and PDF format. Useful jpg images will also be provided to assist pilots with their pre-flight planning. Pilots may of course use the flight descriptions as a guide to create your own flight plan, if desired. If you do not have MS Word, Libre Office Open Source software is an excellent free substitute. https://www.libreoffice.org The DCA web site Welcome Page presents self-explanatory buttons which will link you to the various pages of the World Rally 2021 web site. The first area you are advised to visit is the Rules page. If you are willing to abide by the few simple rules and wish to join us for the World Rally your next action is to register and enjoy! If after the rally you feel that you have enjoyed yourself, learned something new, or refreshed a few long forgotten skills, our aim will have amply been achieved. And, if you like the experience, please feel free to sign on as a pilot for DC3 Airways at dc3airways.net.

  5. http://www.dc3airways.com/special_events/Market_Garden/pilots.htm An alternative set of files for FSX and FS9 users
  6. The scenery and effects package for FSX and P3D for Market garden is now available for the event that will be staged twice in February 2020. Please post here if you are interested.
  7. If anyone is interested in participating in this event, the files for FSC and P3D are available and I am happy to send the package via email. The package is not very large but the results really to add a realistic ambiance to the drop zones and historic flak locations.
  8. 2019 saw the 75th anniversary of operation Market Garden. Many of you will have seen the film bridge too far or have read the book of the same name by Cornelius Ryan. In early 2020, DC3 Airways will, as a form of commemoration and remembrance, host a special event re-enacting s part of this huge operation by using 2 airfields to fly elements of the 82nd Airborne division to drop zones south of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. A package will be made available for FSX/P3D users and another package for X-Plane users. the package will include flight plans in both text and Little Navmap format, scenery and effects to provide short range NDB's at the historical waypoints , a marker ship mid way across the north sea and smoke markers on the DZ's. In addition effects etc. will be provided that adds flak effects in historically accurate locations and in the correct density. Effects will also be provided to add a paratroop function to your preferred aircraft. All we would ask is that participants get familiar with flying a DC3/C47 and ideally fly in a military textured WW2 variant such as Tico Belle, drag em Oot or the Argonia etc.. Access will be granted via special passwords for non DCA members in order to access the FSD server (via FSINN or Swift) and also an assigned TS3 server. The 2 airfields involved will be RAF Cottesmore and RAF Balderton. The package will include full installation instructions, details of the FSD and TS3 servers involved and a chart showing the route. If you are interested in WW2 history or the DC3/C47 Gooney, or if you have always fancied participating in a special multiplayer event, please email me with your interest and I will get back to you with more details. The package will be available for wider distribution in a short time. Glen Broome DCA996 VP Flight Operations - DC3 Airways glenishome at btopenworld dot com
  9. The annual DC-3 Airways World Rally will be flown during the month of November 2019 and will consist of 10 flights spaced over 2-day intervals. Only DC-3/C-47 types will be allowed for all flights and will start with a Total Weight of 22 000 lbs (Payload 1700 lbs, Total Fuel 2000 lbs). Being an Air Rally, the aim of the flights is to accurately fly each leg in order to complete it as close as possible to the "target time". The nominated speed will be 150 kts ground-speed (GS), one precision flight will be at 120 kts GS. A Race Number will be allocated to each participant and only this number will be used in the published Results Sheet. The Registration Page will open on Thursday 03 October 2019... Here is a link to the website where you can register and download the flight details: http://wr2019.aeroworx.co.za/
  10. I have a Saitek yoke, 2 x Saitek throttles and 7 x Saitek instrument panels. I have a total of 16 free and payware FiP gauges set up on the 7 panel units as I start to put together with 12 x Go_Flight units to make a representation of the DC3 PH-PBA of the Dutch Dakota Asociation. I have the 7 Saitek panels plugged into a powered USB.
  11. Thanks Glenn.

Unfortunately, FSINN conflicts with too many things on my system...like remapping keyboard, affecting TrackIR, and other things...so I probably can't join. Sounds like a great time however. Feel free to post a "teaser" on the forum if you want.
