  1. Hi. I am not familiar with that plane but you may be in 2D.
  2. Hi everyone. In the past I was able to find / extract freqs. from nearest airports using: require("radio") require("XSquawkBox") _, _, _, _, _, _, airport_ICAO, _ = XPLMGetNavAidInfo( XPLMFindNavAid( nil, nil, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, nil, xplm_Nav_Airport) ) to find the airport, which still works, then: frequency = XSBLookupATC(airport_ICAO .. "_TWR").... to find the freqs. which no longer works. The logic is to use speech to enter freqs after I find the Airport >Freqs>Convert Speech to txt >Enter data. I have a Speech / Voice control utility that can issue Keys, interface with Commands.. I tried XSquawkBox 2.1 and an existing Radio that do not work. Does anyone know of a combination that may work to accomplish the task? Thank you.
  3. Hi everyone. Does anyone know of a procedure where you can re validate / register XP12 / digital download, if your ISP is down? With this Wx many of the large providers seem to have problem with the ISP service. It occurred yesterday for about 24 hrs, and there was no way to re validate. Another reason not to get a Digital of anything?
  4. A new one, all the people I know have the problem with this ver. and the latest Installer.
  5. Hi everyone. It feels like these guys are trying to sabotage themselves. Again Do not load directly from a previously saved .sit, or the load will hang. To fix, basically start over, Rename X-Plane.prf to X-Plane.prf.dis1 located in ....\Output\preferences . This will reset your Com, Nav, freqs... Lower FPS again overall. The C172, and most other light GA are sill not working with a saved .sit and if you try to use the AP, it will only bank to 5 deg. regardless of your IAS, it will not intercept the Localizer even at 15+ SM out. The Instrument panel lighting is still carp, certain time of day, in the configurations with bright sky, Sun low on Horizon, and 90% FOV, you cannot see the instrument panel knobs to select frequencies.. A new one for me, switching from Full screen to Windows mode did not work, to work around I had to switch to 4k in Full screen, then select Win mode, Exit>Restart in Window mode and it maintained the setting. Now the Water is more of FPS issue then solid ground, it used to get higher FPS when you had a lot of water / ocean in view. At this stage there are only a couple of us, from a group of 11 Real World pilots, that are still trying to hang on to this sim, I hesitate to call it Flight since there is very little in this sim, in the GA acft group, that can be referred to as decent flight models. More like a pile of goop and not very useful as tool.. Final word, stay away if you value your sanity, I have no idea who is in charge there, someone needs to wake up and start thinking before it's too late.
  6. Hi Michael. I am by no means expert in the design / conversion to XP12, I did design some FS9-X.. acft and a couple of XP9 that I ported to XP10-11 and I was able to make some partially work form XP9 to XP12 and I would not want to attempt to port anything from / to MSFS. XP12 is a very unpredictable/ unfinished and demanding version and I suggest that at this point is NOT a working version as far as I am concerned. There are so many things that have changed, like the flight dynamics, adaptive lighting, UI, instrument behavior, turbulence, low visibility,... that it do not work even in the LR acft that turn most of us old timers off. I suggest to everyone if you want anything XP stay with XP11, there are many acft that exist from XP9 on that you can easily port, or better yet get MSFS2020, P3D.. I am not sure LR will ever be able to fix some of the problems they are dealing with. I am not sure it has something to do with some of the people that left LR and the new people are not qualified to complete the tasks they are assigned but it worries me. I've never seen them in this state of disarray. You will likely not get many responses to your question / request.
  7. Hi Joop. You are welcome. I found that using Ortho can actually give me a couple of extra FPS. That is Not the main reason I use it, I actaually fly in real life the areas that I use the Tiles in and it makes it more easily recognizable, but anything that helps is good. It will be a learning curve but I think having photo scenery, that you may be able to use as ground references, is better than not having anything. I do not like / use many trees, with Ortho you can actually get a more realistic representation of the area and I do not miss the trees, keep them to Low, and similar with Objects, just one to the Right of left side, few clouds.. that also saves some FPS. Post here if you have any questions.
  8. Hi everyone. The Start hangs on Done with preloading if you are using a .sit from the previous version. To fix rename the X-Plane.prf file located in the ....\Output\preferences to something else like X-Plane.prf.dis and restart and recreate your .sit. The C172 is still useless when the Sun is in the front low, you cannot see the knobs for a quite a while. No fix for that that I know of the dodo birds at LR think that this is Not a problem regardless of the hundreds of users that complain about it. If you start with a .sit that has the 172 and you use the AP the Standard Turn rate is limited to just 5 degrees only. Useless if you want to use AP. To work around you have to Reload the 172 in the Menu>Developer. This is a known and acknowledged problem but still not fixed. This is suppose to be a Release candidate, it’s a again Real Carp. Time to request the money back. Stay away from XPlane 12.
  9. Hi Joop. It is likely that your just created Tile go placed above your other scenery in the .....\Custom Scenery scenery_packs.ini file which is text file that you can edit and move your tile below the scenery that you have installed, last step in the general information I posted above. That takes some additional understanding and having to do it manually since LR is not smart enough to place the new files in the correct order. Notepad ++ or other text editors will work. Your file may / should look something like this: I 1000 Version SCENERY SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KSNA-fix/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KFUL-FIX/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KLGB-Fix/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Chicago/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Dubai/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Las Vegas/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - London/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Los Angeles/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - New York/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Paris/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Rio De Janeiro/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Saint Louis/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - San Francisco/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Sydney/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Washington DC/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Airports - KBTV Burlington/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - LFMN Nice Cote d Azur X/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - LPFR Faro/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Berlin and Frankfurt/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Budapest/ SCENERY_PACK *GLOBAL_AIRPORTS* SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED Custom Scenery/simHeaven_X-World_America-1-vfr/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\1000 roads/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\1000 autogen/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/House40ft/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/R_Tower695/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\LA/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\Long Beach/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\OpenSceneryX/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\MisterX_Library/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Portland/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\OC/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\CDB-Library/ SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED F:\XP1150b16\Custom Scenery\yOrtho4XP_Overlays_HDv4/ SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED F:\XP1150b16\Custom Scenery\yOrtho4XP_Overlays/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\z_ortho_Arizona_2015_1m/ <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Add / move your new tiles HERE SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\z_ortho_CA_San_Franciso_HD/ SCENERY_PACK E:\XP1135\Custom Scenery\z_ortho_California_v5/
  10. Hi Joop. I have some simple / general steps to follow, this is for XP11, very similar for XP12. After you select your Zoom level you can preview your Tile in the Map section. The thing to do is start with some idea of where you want to keep your tiles, they can be in Custom Scenery, but it will be easier to some have them in another location, maybe on a different Drive and create a J or a regular Link to them. You Tube is a good place to get info from but after you do it a couple of times it will get very easy. After installing and starting the program, it suffices to do the following steps. Select the Base folder on the main page. Just select your "Custom Scenery" folder. The program will put the output into that folder. It will create a single subdirectory for each tile that you create. Select BI as image source and 16 or 17 as zoom level. Select the "Global Scenery/X-Plane 11 Global Scenery" folder in the Settings / Tools as custom overlay folder. Open the world map by clicking on the world icon. You can move the map with the right mouse button. Double click somewhere to select a tile. Shift click to make it a target for the built. Check five boxes below "Batch build tiles" ("Assemble vector data", "Triangulate 3D mesh", "Draw water masks", "Build imagery/DSF", "Extract overlays"). Click "Bach Build". Alternatively, you can also use the buttons in the main window. Check the output in the main window. Create a link to the overlay directory in the program directory from the "Custom Scenery" folder. In Windows, you can just copy and create a link with the right mouse button. Alternatively, you can of course simple copy the complete folder. Start X-Plane and close it. Edit "Custom Scenery/scenery_packs.ini" with Notepad++ or another simple text editor
  11. Hi everyone. I had the opportunity to test Ver08-rc-1 and -rc- must stand for Real Carp. First loading an .sit from a previous version made the C172 jump in the air, do flip, a barrel roll and exploded. The custom Scenery that worked in other versions no longer works, no building around the airport... Running FPS test 1 I lost 11 FPS..... Stay as far away as you can, if you do want to temp faith save your B3 first and take some powerful sedatives.
  12. Hi Joop. Ortho is basically a Photo real overlay. You can see the difference in the 2 pics I posted the default and the Ortho in approximately the same location. I reduced them from 4K to ~1080 to save storage space on this server. As A Real World pilot being able to recognize the area is very important. XP has no good ground references, even in XP12, they decided to get the 3D water, reflection, clouds, horrible turbulence... but it does not have very many ground references. You may be able to see some lakes, mountain peaks, airports but the lakes , roads.. can be difficult to recognize due to the poor design resolution, sharp angles that can make the area look different. Ortho4XP is not difficult to learn and use, Photo (satellite) )scenery is available for free and after you do it a few times it will become second nature. One Problem, BIG, is the storage space depending on the Zoom level (ZL) / resolution. I have Tiles at ZL18 that are 52GB in size, depending on the options you chose in Ortho4XP. I suggest that Assobo FS2020 is best approach for most people. While LR says that their flight dynamics are better, it is not as good as they make it sound in many flight regimes is worse than Assobo.
  13. Hi. You can design an acft to fly with or without additional load with the CG in the proper envelop. If designed to accept a load, the load better be in the proper place to keep it withing the CG envelop limits. There are some some Heavy acft that in empty configuration cannot maintain level position on the ground and have to supported, then loaded in a certain sequence before you can remove the ground support. When finished loading that acft better be within CG limits or it's not going anywhere.
  14. Hi. The less power the more important the calculations are. And for a small GA it's very important to know the CG and weight. In some acft the CG can change during flight, by using fuel as an example, and you will have to take that into account. Some planes you may not be able to land if the CG changed in flight and you did not take CG change into account. There are also some Heavies when they are empty the have to be supported otherwise the tail may touch / hit the ground. That said id you use the same plane, and are familiar with it, around 6 seats, you can easily calculate the CG and Take Off weight without having to check every item, if you know that you are below max weight. The planes are designed to be flexible to an extent, unless you are looking / flying something very light / low power and or a high performance doing some unusual maneuvers.
  15. Hi Joop. The default scenery in any Ver of XP is a lot worse than FSX, even FS9.., they basically just display the roads and mountain peaks and the airports, in default as released. But you can easily get/ create Ortho using Ortho4XP a free app, and by using LUA you can create Scripts to get better FPS, lighting... XP12 is really useless to most users, until they drop some of the useless "features" most users will not be able to enjoy, or use it as a tool. Unless you are the type to just enjoy eye candy and are willing to accept time expansion, when under 20FPS 1min may become 1min and 20sec... If you want to try some of the changes using LUA scripts, very time consuming, you will have a very difficult time using either XP. Try to reduce World Objects to MIn / Left, and Texture, Visual effects also. Antialiasing is one of the worst offenders. Using Ortho can improve the enjoyment, with the Low AA you will get the Marching ants / swimming like surface / objects all over. LUA may be you best friend. Without Visual effects / HDR level the night lighting can look very inadequate. There are some Data refs that can help, but it's a lot of experimenting and very system dependent, and you have to accept some compromises .
