  1. I thought that might be the case, but - MAN! What an atrocious look!! Gonna have to see about getting rid of them. Talk about an "immersion" spoiler .... Ken in Kansas
  2. What are the strangely painted (camo?) planes without tail numbers or airline markings that appear in MSFS 2020? I see them in both AI and Live traffic modes, but they appear to be more numerous in Live mode. See attached screen shot. Ken in Kansas
  3. Thanks, guys. I'd considered a re-installation, but wanted to avoid it if at all possible. Looks like avoidance isn't an option, though. I'll proceed with a re-installation today or tomorrow. Ken in Kansas
  4. g7rta, Yes, G: is still labeled correctly and "connected". I don't think it would show up at all in my list of drives (using the "Create and format hard disk partitions" utility) if it wasn't connected. I have four other SSD drives, including the system drive and they are all shown. All my drives are SSD and were "converted" to GPT prior to installing Windows 11. I looked at the link you provided, but little if any help. I'm considering re-installation of MSFS but don't know what happens to all the content I have downloaded or purchased. Also wondering if all the MSFS updates are included in the version that would be re-installed or if they have to also be downloaded/installed. A quandary for sure, so still searching for answers.l Ken in Kansas
  5. Just upgraded to Windows 11. When I attempt to run MSFS I get the message "Microsoft Flight Simulator can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected." When I originally installed MSFS I installed it to my G: drive instead of C: because I wanted it and all related apps/data/etc. to be on a separate drive. Did the upgrade somehow change the starting location? The MSFS icon properties shows the correct file (I think) as the target (MicrosoftFlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App). However, it does not specify a drive or any other path information. Could that be the problem? I've searched a little but cannot find a workable solution. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. 6. Thanks for the response, Terry. I have been trying to used the "selected" vs "managed" mode, but am having a lot of difficulty getting the selected mode to be accepted for any of the AP settings. I keep being instructed to "middle click" an AP button - don't know what "middle click" means and my roller ball mouse does not have a middle button. It does have a middle wheel that is clickable but that does not seem to accomplish anything. As for subscribing to Navigraph, I have a multitude of subscriptions as it is and don't really want to spend any additional monies on another one, but thanks for that information and explanation as to the descrepencies between MSFS and LNM. 7. I would not be surprised to find that my question has already been addressed in another post or posts. If so, just provide the link and I will get my education there. I would like to be able to create a flight plan in MSFS 2020 then fly that plan somewhat manually in a jet liner (Airbus, Boeing, etc.). I would like to use autopilot without any "connection" between the FMC and AP so that I can manually set the altitude, heading, speed, etc. without having to "override" the "managed" settings in the FMC. I want to be able to see the flight plan using the moving map display but be able to use the AP as described above to follow it. I would like to do this from beginning to end including using ILS and APPR. Is this possible? I can generate a flight plan with LittleNavMap and fly it without loading it into the FMC, but my recent experience has shown a disconnect between LittleNavMap and flight plans generated with MSFS. I.E. I can create a flight plan with MSFS, save it and load it into LittleNavMap, but the departure and arrival waypoints are different - almost as if LittleNavMap does not have some of the waypoints that MSFS has. My experience has also shown me that LittleNavMap seldom has the same Departure and Arrival procedures as those in MSFS and vice versa. Comments? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Ken in Kansas (Yes, we are NCAA basketball champions this year.)
  8. Been looking for information about these two topics all day - literally. Is there any information available about creating aircraft thumbnails? I found a couple of youtube videos but they are 8+ months old and do not match what happens in the latest version of MSFS 2020. Yes, I can do it with screenshots, but there is supposed to be a method of creating thumbnails within the DevMode. However, I can't get it to work. Maybe I'm just too stupid or too old or both. I also would like to know where the "display" name shown under the thumbnail in the Hangar comes from. It sure ain't the aircraft.cfg file. I've changed every line shown there having a name with no change in the name displayed. Very frustrating! Anyway, looking for assistance from anyone who has had experience with either of these issues. Thanks.
  9. Hmmm. Still a dearth of information, I guess. But it turns out that the problem is most likely a Windows 10 issue. I am working on it now and will hopefully have it resolved later this morning.
  10. I have a Vizio SB3651-E6 soundbar connected via a "display port-to-hdmi" cable using a display port on my Gigabyte RTX 2070S. I can get 3.1 sound (left, center, right and SW) when running MSFS but no sound comes through the rear speakers. I have found VERY little information about sound systems re: MSFS. I have read that support for Dolby Atmos is native for MSFS, but my system is not Dolby Atmos compatible. Anyone have any ideas about this and how to use non-Atmos Dolby 5.1 with MSFS with all speakers functional?
  11. Thanks, Tim. I figured it was a Euro thing. I'll have to figure out how to use SPAd.Next to step my comm freqs differently. I'm sure someone has already done it and I may be able to find that profile and use it. As to the ATC glitch, I'll just look at the comms window to clarify my freq if necessary. Sometimes the 2nd and 3rd digits come so swiftly after the o-n-e that I don't understand them - chalk it up to being 76 years old, I guess. Hope that eventually gets fixed. I'm enjoying the hell out of the new release, though, even with the myriad of annoying little issues. I'm able to get 45+ fps with my new setup and I run the Ultra settings with only very rare stutters. Th-th-th-that's all f-f-f-folks! Ken in Kansas
  12. A couple of questions - one may be due to ignorance (actually, possibly both) 1. Does Europe or the rest of the world use comm frequencies that are different than the US? IE on a recent flight originating in Paris, I was told to tune to a frequency that had an "odd" (as opposed to even) number that I was not able to set using my Logitech radio panel. Don't remember the exact freq, but it was something on the order of xxx.610 or xxx.330. Perhaps I don't have the Logitech panel configured correctly? Anyway, I had to tune using the ATC window and selecting the "Tune" option. 2. On a flight today from Flagstaff to Phoenix, ATC kept spelling the first number of frequencies being assigned to me. IE: oh-en-ee 2-3 decimal niner 5 instead of 1-2-3 decimal niner 5 or oh-en-ee 18 decimal 85 instead of 1-1-8 decimal 85. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks for any and all responses, no matter how much they may emphasize my stupidity. Ken in Kansas
