  1. Hey, Thanks heaps. I know old 002 well. As a matter of fact I've got No.13 piston, from the starboard engine, sitting in my workshop. It had a shattered No.2 compression ring so we had to call PAN & do an emergency landing at Wewak. What fun!
  2. Hi Y'all, I am looking for a person who would be interested in doing a repaint for the FXS dc-3 or any other dc-3/ c47 (pay or freeware). I have always loved the Gooney Bird ever since I used to work on them in the 80's & 90's. I was seconded to the Australian High Commission in Papua New Guinea and then sent for duty with the Air Transport Squadron of the PNGDF to assist with their Maintenance Flight. At that time they had the Douglas DC-3, GAF Nomad and IAI Arava aircraft. The DC-3 became a favorite. Anyway I was going through my photos the other day and came across some of the ones from that time. So I am looking for someone who would accept a commission to create a repaint for me so I can add it to my current FSX aircraft. If you are interested please message me so we can disuss this project. Cheers, Bill
  3. I wonder how many people have given up on Microsoft's latest flight simulator. Like a lot of people, I per-ordered the "Premium Deluxe" version and even built a new system for it. After weeks and weeks of dealing with control issues (not being able to have 2 USB throttle quadrants) and not getting any help from Microsoft about this issue. I should also say that Logitech have proven to be useless in not being able to supply a replacement for the original quadrant that came with the yoke (the one that hooks directly to the yoke via a mini DIN connector). I have asked about trying to set up 2 USB quadrants on a few different forums and no one seems to have figured it out. I went back to a single quadrant, set it up in the Control section, and promptly crashed and burned on take off due to uncontrollable full right rudder. Went in adjusted all the sensitivities etc.No joy. Disconnected the rudder pedals and used Auto-Rudder. Finally got the plane into the air but the whole thing was twitchy as hell. Ive checked the yoke in Control Panel and it responds normally. I even tried a new joystick I borrowed from a friend. Same deal. I have just sent Microsoft a refund request. Going to go back to FSX and see how X-Plane 12 pans out. Gotta say I am really disappointed. I've been flying FSX since 2006 and never had the issues that this latest dud gives. I would be really interested to see what flight controllers were able to be used without having to do any reprogramming.
  4. Well it looks like we've been screwed by Microsoft again!Hopefully it will be fixed in a further update, I can't use my rUdder pedals as they test OK in calibration but when I try to take off the aircraft goes into full right rudder even after making sure the rudder trim is centered, What a bummer !!!!
  5. Hey guys. Ive got an older Saitek Flight Yoke. The original throttle quadrant failed years ago and I have since been using 2 USB Saiteck throttle quadrants on my rig. Now i'm trying to use them on FS2020. My problem is that the Reverser Switch [RX] is listed as an input on the default yoke throttle but not found as an input on the USB quadrants. Thus things like Reverse thrust, propeller feather and mixture cut off cant be assigned. Anyone having the same problem?
  6. I decided to load FSX on the new computer which is running Windows 10. Everything is working but I can't drag the Radio Stack or GPS to the 2nd monitor. I can drag other thing from the desktop to the other monitor (I've disabled the "Snap" feature in the settings)no problems. Both monitors are at the same resolution. The monitors are correctly listed & positioned in the "Display Settings". Google doesn't appear to know. Can anybody help?
  7. I just watched a pretty amazing video, on You Tube, from Flight Sim. It gave a list of the aircraft we can expect in 4K. The aircraft, scenery and cockpits look fantastic. This is the list: Airbus A320 Boeing 747 Cessna 172 Cessna Grand Caravan Cessna Citation Daher TBM 900 Daher TBM 930 Daimond DA62 Icon A5 Piper PA18 PX Cub Robin Apex DR400 BUT... wouldn't be nice if they could migrate a couple of aircraft from FSX? I have a couple of favorites, the DC-3 & the Gumman Goose. I've always had a soft spot for radial engines. Mainly because I spent some time working on them. Does anyone have a favorite they'd like to see in the new flight sim? Oh and who's taking bets that we are going to end up with Microdsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (that was released in 2021) So many bugs!
  8. Currently running a Samsung 32" LED TV and an old Viewsonic 16" LCD. The little one is for the GPS & Radio Stack. I've just ordered a new 4k 32" LED Monitor and a 4k 24" one as well. I've tried using our big screen (105") in the lounge room but TOO BIG!! It's good for the X-Box but no good for the flight sim.
  9. I was reading on Reddit that the Scenery is going to be 2Petabytes (PB) so correct me if I'm wrong but that's 2,000TB. So if someone wanted to cache the USA I reckon your looking at, considering the US is 6% of the worlds land mass, about 120TB. That's a lot of hard drives!! I suppose you could get the Nimbus Data 100TB SSD. It's a steal at $50K a pop.
  10. Hey having a problem with FSX when it is loading. I get the following error message: "SCENERY .CFG error. Local scenery directory (Addon Scenery\ SCENERY) in scenery Area .115 not found. Click OK to continue." I have no idea how to remedy this problem. I have 2 discs that I bought from the old FS Pilotshop FSC-285 & FSC300 that give improved textures for the whole world. I did have "Photo Real Melbourne" but cant find it any more. Can anyone help me please. Cheers Bill Well this is embarrassing! I search using the thread heading & couldn't find anything. As soon as I posted I noticed "Similar Threads" at the bottom of the page. All fixed now. Thank you very much "Opaplano".
