  1. "Serious human rights violations plague the region. In far too many places, massacres, extrajudicial executions, disappearances, torture, police brutality, and inhumane prison conditions endure." Sounds like Washington DC!
  2. One way to do this is with a free add on located here: https://flightsim.to/file/9067/sky-dolly There are a few bugs with the way MSFS interacts but I find this to be a very useful add on I use mainly for formation flight. It can start a flight in a location but you may spend a minute or so recovering from unusual attitudes til you are back on track. It helps to start the flight in the sim on the closest airfield and set up your radios on the ground before teleporting. The program only saves the aircraft data so you will have to set the weather the way you want it before each flight. For this flight into Steamboat Springs CO I saved my flight just before crossing the VOR inbound at 13k allowing enough time to get the aircraft back under control and start the outbound leg. You can set cloud levels, wind and precipitation to levels that will limit visibility to levels you would never consider in real life. For an aircraft like the Maul you may also find it useful for storing starting locations on off field location where there are no runways. Be advised that you will need to start in a nearby airfield and teleport. This can sometimes register as a crash on teleport.
  3. Thanks Jankee, I will try out that area. I thought it might be North Africa but Aus makes more sense.
  4. Hey Doc, try this out: To get rid of the suggestions go to assistance options Select true to life On the last one you may want to adjust some of the options. Here is how mine are set. Make sure you save before leaving. To set the control sensitivity, select control options. Then select your controller and click on the blue sensitivity button upper left. The screen will appear and provide control options for sensitivity. You should probably also tell it it is doing a good job and looks like it lost weight.
  5. Sailing will have different variables in this area and most boats will have their own characteristics which is not as simple as a plane. Depth is the primary concern as it varies from awash to 10k feet. Currents can be interesting as well in the straights and near the Exumas or anywhere that deep water hits shallow. You definitely need charts to monitor "terrain" under your keel here and may have to modify your plans to suit rather than a straight DR as you would do from SoCal ports to Catalina.
  6. Great pictures all! Where were these taken? This is interesting geology.
  7. For true DR you really dont need an accurate sectional except for the start and end point. Google earth will do fine for true course and distance. A good sectional or even 1:50000 topo's can be used for map association and provides another reference and in my opinion is another, different set of skills. I have been playing around with a simple skill builder "challenge" that can be run once or several times based on pure DR. I have run a test sample of this in the Boo, a glass pit Daher 930 and a souped up Cub. Premise is simple with artificial constraints to make it interesting. Situation: Bahama out islands consist of several island groups, each with dozens to hundreds of low lying similar looking islands with low scrubby trees over lime and coral. A storm has battered these islands. They have plenty of fuel but need food and med resupplies. Heavy overcast is from 1000 MSL to stratosphere. Wind is set for each leg. This creates a reason why you have to fly low so as not to go up and get a further view. Having this set crossing water eliminates any need or ability to do anything except DR although having an image of your destination airport is handy since there are likely to be several airports in each area. When setting up in 2020, you only put the departure airport in so it doesn't create a GPS plan or set up DME. All aircraft have a mag compass. In glass pits you change the map screen to some other pages to prevent moving maps. You can use DG if you have one, a stop watch and unmarked sectional or sat image. It will start with one leg journeys of about 60 k miles. Scoring will be done on how much cargo you can land with so for every gallon of fuel you leave behind you carry 6 pounds of cargo. You can never hit 100% but the highest percentage of cargo weight minus empty aircraft weight is your high score. The fuel weight is minimized to cause anxiety, motivate the pilot to run an efficient flight and encourage good planning (proper prior planning prevents...) If you land on the beach or the wrong airport within 5 mile of planned but are otherwise ok, you get a 15% penalty. If you dont make a landing you get 0 for the leg. Thoughts?
  8. That was the closest thing to legal flying I have done in a long time! Hell, as soon as I cleared Santa Monica I went for a joyride through downtown LA under 1000 on the way to Big Bear in the boo, then went for full tour of ordnance bunkers at Seal Beach in the 500.
  9. Thats pretty bad! Next we will find out Randy Rhoads complained about our flying technique!
  10. The hand tracking is NFG and not fully supported in 2020. I program the buttons on my flight controllers and use the trackball for the remaining items. I found the track ball much easier to use in the VR. Soon Crystal will have pass through and I might get some kind of radio dial knobs or make something up.
  11. Good job gut'en that one out! Well done.
  12. Dood! Says here ya got a zero and its all recorded!
  13. I have this card running the Pimax Crystal. I can't comment on any other HMD since this is my first. However, the difference was like the old wireframe FS of the 80's versus FSX. In other words FS2020 with my Track IR 5 to Crystal with depth perception and being in the cockpit was night and day. Needed a few settings sorted and depending on those settings can run like a slide show or silky. I am not running full resolution yet but intend to skip a generation of graphics cards since it currently is very good.
  14. Talk to Todd my son. When I was young and dumb(er), I used to say that luck was not a factor. The older I get, the more I see the universe playing dice with men.
