  1. Hi All Does any know how the sim works out where to shift you to, when you use the fast forward to descent / approach options? And wether it is possible to adjust these and set the distance and altitude from the airport that you fast forward to, yourself? The reason I ask is that it all seems a bit random to me at the moment and sometimes I'm still hundreds of miles/over an hour away (when fast forward to descent) or almost on top of the runway (when fast forward to approach). Any thought / help gratefully received ! Thanks Paul
  2. Hi All I have recently started using some of the amazing scenery files on the excellent flights.to website and it has enhanced my enjoyment of MSFS 2020 immensely. Quick question though - do I still need to download a flightsim.to scenery file if I am planning to fly to an area that already has photogrammetry scenery already in MSFS? Or for those cities that already have photogrammetry scenery should I just go with that as flightsim.to files won't enhance any further? Any thoughts/advice gratefully received. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the great reply David, just what I needed to get me started into wide world of 3rd Party Add Ons ! :-)
  4. Hi All I currently have a clean install of MSFS 2020 (i.e. no add ons / no market place /3rd party content) and at the moment enjoy the sim with zero CTDs / issues, which is great and I'm loving. I'm thinking of enhancing my enjoyment of the sim by adding some 3rd party content, such as the downloads on flightsim.to, but am worried that this could cause increased system instability / CTDs etc, which I want to avoid at all costs as I'm not good with computers and live in a rural area with not the best internet coverage, and so don't want to be in a position where I'm needing to sort out issues / re-install the sim). Am I worrying unnecessarily and missing out big time by not installing 3rd party content, or is it inevitable that adding 3rd party content make the sim less stable / lead to more CTDs than before? All thought gratefully received! :-) Thanks Paul
  5. Hi All I'm thinking of ordering an Oculus Quest 2 so I can use it with MSFS 2020 as well as stand alone apps from the Oculus store and steam games on my PC. I have read that a facebook account is needed to set up and log in to the OC2, so I am planning to use my wife's facebook account to do that as I don't have one nor want one. Any advice anyone has on what it's like / things that I should consider if I go ahead (such as how to best achieve an easy install, any additional hardware / apps I should consider getting, possible facebook issues with my pc/steam accounts would be much appreciated) ! Thanks
  6. Hi All I recently dowloaded MSFS onto a brand new pc I bought specifically for it a couple of weeks ago. I've deliberately kept my new pc as 'clean' as possible to avoid issues/crashes, and so have only installed official MSFS updates and downloads (eg Japan and USA). Everything has been working great (no crashes etc) and the sim has been amazing until today, when I went to load the sim this evening it wouldn't load past the US scenery page (Monument Valley I think) and a constantly spinning circle. I tried several times but got the same each time. At first I thought the issue might be that my internet was down (because of the constantly spinning circle) but I did several speed tests and the internet is working fine. The only other thing that has been different is that on my last flight yesterday my internet connection must have dropped because half way through the flight it said that internet connection had been lost and it was putting the sim into offline mode. Accordingly I was wondering if my current issue today of the sim not loading might be linked to this? Any help advice you can give to sort this issue would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance. Paul
  7. No I don't think I have a cap, I think it is unlimited fortunately I read in a review that you're able to download scenery specific to the area that you're planning to fly in, so I have been working on the assumption that I might need to use that option at times if my internet connection isn't up to it
  8. Thanks Stubborn Swiss :-) Re my hard drives, I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 510 M.2 SSD that I'm planning to put MSFS on, plus a 4TB Seagate Barracuda 5400 RPM Hard Disk Re my internet connection unfortunately my rural location means 4G 20MBPS is all I can get at the moment, hopefully it will just about be ok
  9. Hi Everyone More time on my hands now plus the launch of the incredible looking new MSFS means that after 15 years or so I'm able to, and have decided to, return to a passion that I've had all my life and now finally have more time to indulge, flight sims. My new PC arrives tomorrow (Intel I7 - 10700k 5.1 GHZ, RTX 2080 Super, 32GB DDR RAM) and as I live in a rural area unfortunately I only have 20MBS 4G internet connection (and I'm no windows expert, current/last one was Windows XP !). I'm planning to buy and install MSFS tomorrow (from MS store) once I've set the new computer up and so - having read a lot of horror stories on forums - was wondering whether anyone has any good advice or tips on the best way to try and ensure a trouble / stress free installation, or any material I can referencer to help/guide me and whether there's any rookie mistakes I should avoid ? Thanks in advance for any help ! :-) Paul
