  1. In IFR flight, theoretically we can’t see anything visually outside of the plane. Therefore we “only†have to rely on the flight instruments. And when we say “onlyâ€, that means, in a real flight, our body sends us various signals that can mislead us about our real position. Because we don’t get any body signals on the ground, IFR training without motion simulators is the best way to rely completely on flight instruments. FS Academy - IFR MSFS is one of the best IFR training tools I’ve tried so far. With this program you can try and learn an IFR simulation that is real for beginners, a challenge. After 1 hour of the simplest flight training with only instruments, and without visual contact with the outside, you will be under mental stress that afterwards, a VFR flight, looks like a children’s game! if you want to start this training, be sure that you are not tired and that you have enough time and nerves! :) Farhad Mashregh-Zamini Flight Instructor
  2. Flying around Mount Everest with Dornier DO-228 by Farhad Mashregh-Zamini We are pilots and pilots always live in the sky! What has to do with altitude is a favorite thing for us. Of course, flying around the highest place in the world is for all pilots, special the pilots who like adventure, a challenge. To fly around Mount Everest, we start our flight in Lukla Airport (VNLK). For this, we need a plane that we can fly over 25000 feet. Dornier DO 228 is a good choice. The Service Ceiling of DO228 is 25000 feet, so we can fly with it close to the height of Mount Everest and see that from close up. We start our two-engine aircraft in Lukla. We are right now, over 9000 feet above MSL. Our runway is very short (1729 ft) so we have to follow the Shortfield Take Off procedure. We start with Before Take Off check: .... .... Boost Pumps —— Checked Flaps —— Check for Take Off Trims —— Check for Take Off .... .... After take off, we turn right and we slowly climb to 13000 feet. After a few minutes, we will see „Namche Bazar“ village on our left. Above this village is the Syangboche Airport (VNSB). We land there and we take other passengers. After the second take off, we turn left and we fly over „Dawa choling Gompa“ which is a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. We don't fly too high that we can see the camp next to the beautiful „Mount Pumori“; A pyramid-shaped mountain that lies about 8 km west of Mount Everest. At the foot of this mountain we see the camp with tents in orange, blue, yellow and green colors. And in front of us we see a few mountains and we fly high. Behind these mountains, suddenly we see glorious Mount Everest! Flying around Mount Everest, and then starting our descent and flying back to Lukla and landing in this difficult and dangerous airport is a challenge that you want to repeat over and over again.
  3. by: Farhad Mashregh-Zamini Flying in the real world is beautiful, but what we see in a real flight is not so clear and vivid as we see in a good computer game. As a pilot and flight instructor what I normally see is what happens in the cockpit of an airplane. All switches must be functional, and so must all instruments. Of course in a VFR flight what you see out there is important but you don't expect to see a pretty picture. In an IFR flight we have to think that nothing can be seen outside and we only have to fly with instruments (therefore on a sunny day, we use a Training Hood to restrict the pilot's view to only instruments). That is why the most important thing in a real flight is the REAL action and reaction of the aircraft and its instruments. If we use a simulator like X-Plane 11, of course we can also play with it, but if we expect a simulation of flying, it is not the beauty of the mountains and trees and rivers that is important, but the flight physics of the aircraft. that's what makes the difference between just a game and a game + simulator. With the new version (11.50) of X-Plane, plus a plug-in like “Advanced Rendering Options†-that can be used to improve all image components-, we have a good game + simulator in hand.
  4. by: Farhad Mashregh-Zamini UJS Fairchild PT-19 is here! A production by Uncle Jack Simulation at X-Aviation. If you have set your plane to "Start with engines running" in X-Plane 11, immediately after uploading plane, you will encounter a crash! Starting the PT-19 is not as easy as you think! First you have to turn off Automatic start in aircraft settings. Then, in the right side of the cockpit, there is a Manual that you have to click on it. When this manual is opened, you can choose the "Automatic Engine Start" from there, and your adventure with this beautiful airplane begins. If you are not a patient pilot and want to fly this Popular World War II trainer aircraft right away, and you don’t have time to read the POH and learn how to control this Taildragger aircraft on the ground, you need to disable the Truevintage and set the Tailwheel to Always Locked, then you may be able to take off and land safely. Flying with this aircraft is really a challenge that shows what the difference is between a Game and a Flight simulator.

  6. by: Farhad Mashregh-Zamini I'm sure there are many people like me who like cold weather and wonderful North Pole landscapes. For many of us, flying over this quiet and mysterious landscape is a dream. Unfortunately for many of us this dream cannot come true in the real world, but fortunately, we have a flight simulator like X-plane 11 and a scenery add-on like Svalbard from Aerosoft, which covers this area with over 61000 km² and 5 airports and heliports in virtual reality, that makes this dream come true. A scenery with snow, or without it, makes the environement of this island real. Although this package is an expensive package with about 45 euros and it has no major airports like Heathrow or O’Hare but the mega-large natural landscape and the precise work of this software maker makes it acceptable to pay this price. In the past i have flown to different and diverse big and small cities in the real world but i have never seen such beautiful and different landscapes. Flying smooth with more than 60 fps makes flying in this area pleasant and when flying we forget the difference between the real and the virtual world.
