  1. While Asobo is using one million+ paying customers for Beta testers, I'm positive I'm not going to spend any more money on 3rd party development unless they straighten this mess up and it flies right.
  2. Between 950Mbs and 1000Mbs. Agreed, the basic package is not likely a source of failure, but the point from where the download comes very well could be. I still haven't had any success with MS Store recognizing that there's a new download. It did, however, download an updated version of Software Services for me....
  3. All that's true. Not to mention some have Standard, some have upgrade, some have premium. I purchased from MS Store and I have NOTHING! Is it locale based? Works in Europe, not in California, works in Indonesia, not in South America? Am I parting my hair on the wrong side? Do I hold down Ctrl + SHIFT + ALT + NumLock 9?? Regardless, from my point of view this upgrade is now a full-fledged dumpster fire. Somewhere along the line, Asobo ineffectively released a faulty product that is causing heartburn for me and at least three other people...
  4. Thanks, Tim! Tried your advice, but still no joy. FlightSimulator users (MANY of them) are reporting the same issue, a variety of solutions, with mixed results. The update is a hot mess, apparently you just wait patiently for your turn to get the update. Not happy...
  5. Apparently, 1.14.5 is ready today. Got an update message when I started it this morning, listing all of the new features and fixes. All well and good, launched the update (3.13 GB), started it up after it finished, saw a new landing challenge, launched that and CTD... I heeded the advice to remove any files in the Community folder and emptied it out. Filled with confidence, I restarted the sim and when it came up, I was sent to the update page again..?? I clicked on the update and off it went, this time with a 1.49 GB update..?? Finishing that, I started it AGAIN, went to enter a simple point A to point B flight plan, entered Airport A and Airport B and they didn't take. Could not then and cannot now enter flight plans. Not sure if I can even free fly. MSFS 2020 isn't quite a dumpster fire yet, but there's smoke... I'll be upset if I have to reload the entire (what is it now, 300 GB?) sim again. When I go to Microsoft, it thinks I have version 1.13.17... Anybody run into this yet?
  6. Not in a G36, but had a situation where the 'armstrong' method had to be used. One of the gear indicators would not show 'down', requiring a tower flyby and a request to confirm the gear was, indeed, down. The ATC replied with "your gear APPEARS to be down." Now filled with confidence (LOL), a successful landing followed. I learned that in those cases, ATC will never positively tell you you're good to go...
  7. Go to the store and look at MSFS Utilities. One of the first offerings is from Contrails, called Seasonal Vegetation foe MSFS. It at least tones down the brilliant greens to shades of brown and green. I use it. I think you have to take it out of the Community folder once it's Spring (otherwise it'll look like you're in a severe drought, LOL!).
  8. I've found that, as long as you have a fairly accurate Aircraft Performance file (APF), LNM does a very good estimate of total flight time, as well as accurately reporting leg distances and ETE. Alexander Barthol provided 10 nice Aircraft performance files from his website and you can use those as a starting point to create an APF for most any aircraft. Involves using LNM Aircraft Performance Merge and average function and flying at different altitudes to establish a reasonable model 9kinda like figuring out your car's gas mileage over several tankfuls). I'm currently doing just that with the Modified ICON A5 aircraft.
  9. Avsim.com reports "Hotfix 1.13.17.0 is now live! 1,03GB download on the Microsoft Store. " I googled 'MSFS 2020 hot fix flaps', several hits, a few with descriptions on how to get there. I had update issues with the UK/Ireland update. Seems like it took several days before I was offered the update, while other areas of the world were downloading.
  10. B36 has 2 Alternators that may be tied by a contactor relay, Alt 1 is 100 amps and alt 2 is 20 amps. When Alternator 2 circuits are not being utilized (i.e., current demand less than 2.8 amps, RPM below 2000), Alt 1 supplies current to everything and busses are tied together through the contactor relay and the annunciator light comes on. Once RPM exceeds 2000 RPM, the relay drops out and you have two separate alternators and busses. Incidentally, if Alt 1 fails, you are in deep doo-doo. One of the things that alternator supplies current to is the landing gear motors. If your battery fails.... Bad Ju-Ju. MP NAN, not sure why that's being reported. Good luck...
  11. Didn't see any posts regarding this, but this morning I got a Mandatory Update, which installed smoothly. It was about 1.03 GB if I remember correctly, assuming this was the Hot Flap fix.
  12. Not sure if it is related, but I've had issues with Gaming Services. I found that, by running Windows Task Manager, there are two instances of Gaming Services running. I end task on one of them, and that rerurns MSFS functionality...
  13. I've flown into Lukla several times, using progressively smaller aircraft and could not trigger the Uphill Achievement, (12 degree rise). Finally discovered from the video, that Lukla is only 11.7 degrees... ONLY 11.7 degrees?? it's like trying to land on the uphill side of a roller coaster. Is there any other airfield other than Bugaloo (Bugalaga, LOL!) that meets the 12 degree incline?
  14. Agree, Little Navmap, Skyvector and the MSFS planner are what I use all the time. Little Navmap gives you tons of info, including fuel report and loading, bearings, distance and ETE to waypoints, ability to send to Skyvector, etc. Skyvector gives you accurate terrain and altitudes and, if you can decipher the codes displayed when you hover over one, you can right click and get airport diagrams and ILS/VOR info. ( I have a pretty good list as to what the Weather Station codes are (although actual Barometer pressure rarely agrees with MSFS ATC info, varying as much as 0.16mm). I always check a flight plan (imported from Little Navmap) with the one the aircraft shows as a flight plan. I find that I have to modify the imported flight plan from time to time. I've flown VFR from waypoint to waypoint, using Skyvector landmarks and heading.
  15. Finally gave up with attempts to get the update and went to the Microsoft Store, where I attempted to re-install the whole mess. Microsoft advises me that there is a problem with downloading and issues an error code '0800270' or something. I file a report that MSFS 2020 won't launch, where my report joins dozens of others with the same problem. I go back to the download attempt and try to stop the failed download, but Microsoft warns me that stopping the attempt will uninstall the application. Frustrated, I stop it anyway, whereupon, it begins the download. Shortly thereafter, the 'Checking for Updates' screen appears and gives me the opportunity to update! Finally! I do the update, and 3 hours later, after downloading the ENTIRE 153 GBs, it's restored, with the latest update. Happy, I resume my long distance flight and 2.5 hours later... CTD. LOL, I've had my patience tried by lots worse than this, I'll try again this morning.
