  1. This is probably a problem with autodimming if it's happening on night flights. The setting is in the Menu regarding displays. If it's set to 90% or greater, then the problem will be resolved if that's the cause. Some users have written that any brightness below 70% turns the G1000 screens black, and that can happen at night when the cabin lights are dimmed appropriately.
  2. What country are you in? I cannot find any of these pedals in the U.S., and even at the MFG website they're not available for sale.
  3. Very, very good news, but it's entirely possible that the reinstallation, which was considered a mistake at the time, is what saved you from the many problems plaguing so many others. Lots of them have solved problems that appeared with SU5 by reinstalling the entire Sim.
  4. Of course, it's true that complainers are over-represented on online forums, but my experience goes back to the days when there was nothing but AOL, Compuserve, and Usenet, and there has never been an outpouring of grief even remotely as severe as what we're seeing with SU5. Essentially no one has decent graphics, and those with literally unplayable sims are legion. I feel it's safe to say that the percentage of users who've suffered significant downgrades is massive. But even if it's not >50%, the horrendous severity of the dismantling described in the threads on flightsimulator.com (numbering in the thousands of posts) thoroughly justifies calling it a crime against PC users. I did not impugn the veracity of those who are satisfied. By wondering if their descriptions are genuine, I'm wondering if most of them are users with antiquated hardware who had previous graphics that were so bad that they're thrilled with their increase in FPS and lack the frame of reference to even see the massive degradation in graphics. They seem never to include their specs or include screenshots of their own to justify their opinion, which almost invariably boils down to "I'm good. I like SU5." (I believe that you, personally, did include screenshots, which gave me hope, so my suppositions about supporters of SU5 certainly do not include you.)
  5. I'm not sure whether it's a total disaster. I haven't installed SU5 yet. I've decided to spend a few days reading forum posts and gathering a notebook containing settings, tweaks, and precautions taken that work and those that don't before trying it. I might even wait for Hot Fix #2. Meanwhile, figuring out how MS could commit the crime, which they call "SU5," against its loyal PC group is not the most perplexing mystery. Most perplexing is understanding how a scarce few posters claim graphics as good as they had before the update. If their experience is genuine, it sort of disproves the prevailing theory that Asobo severely dumbed down the graphics to make MFS "fit into the [X]box," but that theory is the only one that seems to make sense. I hate that the vast majority of PC users are devastated by the results of the upgrade, but it'll be fascinating to see how it plays out over the the rest of this year.
  6. I, also. I built my own MSFS-dedicated PC, which I keep clean as a whistle -- no programs installed other than those necessary for Flight Simulator and for keeping the computer backed up. The difference is that I never at any point even considered trying to run the sim on my iMac. Mostly by luck, i obtained an Asus RTX 3080 at US$50 over MSRP, but since then finding the parts needed for a very good flight-sim PC has actually gotten much worse instead of better. Were I approaching the problem at this present point in time, I'd more seriously consider trying to do it on the iMac (in Boot Camp and definitely NOT in a Parallels VM). If I did that, though, I'd regard it as nothing but a stop-gap solution to continue only until CPU and GPU prices return to some semblance of normal. For one thing, setting up the flight-sim controllers in front of an iMac would be an ongoing nightmare, having to fasten them in place and disassemble the setup over and over again as you go from normal use of the computer to running the sim and back again.
  7. @BorisMarkus Does "unlocked V sync" mean that you enabled it or disabled it?
  8. I can find the MS2020 Plug-in -- no problem at all. I cannot find the "drivers" on Logitech.com. Does Windows perhaps install a driver automatically when the USB connection is made?? I can find "Flight Instrument Panel drivers," but they're over 3 years old, which I believe is not want we're looking for.
  9. Users in Europe that elected the 10-DVD boxed version of FS 2020 reportedly get a "printed manual" in the box. Here in the US, I'd have thought that we'd at least get online access to a PDF of that manual, but I cannot locate one. Does it exist? If so, where? Also, most Microsoft programs have several printed books of different lengths available before the programs like Office and the individual apps within are even launched. Now, even after launch, I find not a single book on MS FS 2020. I found the configuration of an unlisted controller so confusing and stupefying that I had to give up. Man, could I use a book or manual on this sim. How can you RTFM when there is no M?
