    Review: Orbx - Monument Valley

    If your idea of the American west is based on western movies, you're likely thinking of Monument Valley. Located on the Colorado plateau near the Arizona/Utah border, the rugged terrain makes for some scenic flying, which Orbx has captured with their usual style. This version is for X-Plane 11 and reviewer Sean McLeod enjoyed blasting over the desert and into the canyons.

    Review: Condor 2 Soaring Simulator

    Soaring is a type of flying many flight simulator pilots are not familiar with. The best way to experience it is with a dedicated simulator like Condor 2. The sim includes a good variety of gliders to try and a wide variety of features on how you launch, landscapes and more. There's also an extensive lessons system. Reviewer Nils Lips spent a considerable amount of time with the sim and highly recommends it.

    Preview: Deadstick Bush Flight Simulator

    REMEX Software has been working on a new flight simulator named Deadstick Bush Flight Simulator. Recently reviewer Michael Hayward had a chance to try a pre-release version of the sim and talk with the developers. He really enjoyed his time with the sim and has high hopes for it when released near the end of the year. The sim includes some interesting features like aircraft that wear and age, a career mode featuring cargo delivery and more to come.

    Review: Aerosoft Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport

    If you're an X-Plane pilot who enjoys exploring the beautiful Pacific northwest, you'll enjoy flying into Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport. Reviewer Patrick Putlend gave this scenery from Aerosoft a try and found it thoroughly enjoyable. He liked the detailed ground textures and buildings as well as the custom mesh and the inclusion of the city as well as the airport.

    Review: Alexander Barthel's Little Navmap

    Little Navmap from Alexander Barthel is a freeware utility that makes navigating a breeze. According to reviewer Paul Mort, the flight planner is easy to use but has all the features you need. The maps have a great level of detail and are easy on the eye. In fact, he couldn't really find any negatives to the utility, making it a great addition to your flight simulator tools.

    Review: Aerosoft - Mega Airport Helsinki

    Inspired by a trip to Finland, reviewer Michael Hayward sought out some flight simulator scenery of the area and found Mega Scenery Helsinki. Created by A-Flight and published by Aerosoft, this add-on is now a few years old but Michael found that it still holds up well against current standards for FSX scenery. His review includes a nice video showing the scenery.

    Review: Just Flight - PA28R Turbo Arrow III/IV

    The Piper Cherokee family of single engine GA planes has satisfied pilots' needs for years. At top of the range is the PA28R Turbo Arrow III/IV, with retractable gear are more horsepower than lesser models. Reviewer Shawn Weigelt tries out the X-Plane 11 version from Just Flight and finds the plane to be an absolute joy and one of the best "study level" add-ons available.

  • Captain Sim Says Goodbye To FSX

    Another developer announces the end of support for FSX. In their forums, Captain Sim has posted that the upcoming 757 Captain III Freighter and -30 expansions will be the last FSX products, and in fact the last for 32 bit sims (i.e. Prepar3D v1, v2, v3). Future development will be devoted to 64 bit sims.

    Orbx - TrueEarth GB South for X-Plane 11 Released

    Orbx has announced the release of TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 11. This is the first of three packages covering the UK. The scenery includes 42,000 sq mi of crisp, color-matched aerial imagery. A new autogen technology has been developed, allowing the placement of realistic UK style buildings. Some 130 million trees and 13 million buildings will be placed at their correct height and location. In addition numerous VFR landmarks are added.

    DC3 Airways World Rally 2018

    DC3 Airways announces World Rally 2018. This event, coming up in November, is for users of most popular flight simulators but must be flown in a DC-3 or C-47 type aircraft. Being an air rally, fastest is not the winner, rather the goal is to accurate fly each leg at a designated speed.

    FlyInside Flight Simulator Beta Release

    FastTrack is Back at VATSTAR ATO

    VATSTAR, the #1 VATSIM Authorized Training Organization, announces that FastTrack is back for the month of October. This means that now you may take your P2, P3, and P4 training together. Before: You must be P2 certified, apply for new training (example P3) and once you finish apply for the other one (example P4). Now? If you are P1 certified you can take P2 P3 and P4 at the same time or in whatever.

    VSKYLABS DC-3/C-47 Flying Lab Project Is Evolving

    VSKYLABS has announced big changes to their DC-3/C-47 Flying Lab Project for X-Plane. While working hard to bring the current C-47A up to v2.8, they've now announced that the project will expand to include two additional aircraft, a modern DC-3 and a turboprop powered DC-3. The modern DC-3 will feature a modern cockpit modeled after a real plane. The turboprop version will also be a heavily modified plane with modern cockpit.
