    X-Plane 11.40 Beta 8 And A Roadmap Update

    In his latest posting, Laminar Research developer Ben Supnik presents the most detailed look at the X-Plane 11.40 betas and the roadmap for future changes. X-Plane 11.40 is a physics release, based on six months of work on just that aspect of the sim. It includes an experimental flight model that can be turned on/off to allow add-on designers to test this model of the future. Ben covers a lot more, including Vulkan and Metal support coming in 11.50.

    FlyTampa Previews Heraklion XP

    Scenery designer FlyTampa continues their work in Greece, with a new preview of Heraklion as a follow-up to their recent scenery for Athens. This scenery for X-Plane, judging by the screen shots, will include both the airport and the surrounding area.

    Flight Sim Show 2019 Report And Interviews

    Once again this year, Michael Hayward was our reporter on the scene at Flight Sim Show 2019, held last weekend at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford. This year the show was expanded to two full days and had great attendance including 35 companies with stands and many presentations.

    Laminar Research continues to roll out new betas, with X-Plane 11 version 11.40 beta 7 now out. This is another small update, with some tweaks to the flight model NaN crash reporting, some bug fixes and improvements to AI airliner landings.

    Review: Orbx Washington Airports

    Orbx has a long history of creating highly detailed sceneries of rather obscure but scenic and colorful airports, and their recent additions for X-Plane 11 are no exception. Reviewer Shawn Weigelt enjoyed his visits to Darrington, Anacortes and Israel's Farm and finds having the set in a close area gives some nice places to fly between.

    Taburet - Martha's Vineyard XP

    Taburet brings the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard to the world of X-Plane 11. The scenery includes precise autogen position and forest scenery according to the USGS data, a completely new mesh and photorealistic texture. The scenery is very easy on frames rates and fun to fly either by day or night; moving sailing boats are also included in parts of the coast.

    Verticalsim Studios Releases VStates Florida

    VStates Florida is now available, featuring all new imagery of the Keys with custom water masking and better color correction matching to real life imagery. The VStates ortho project by Verticalsim Studios for X-Plane is a project to ensure color-corrected ortho/satellite imagery for the entire US mainland region.

    Airtech Simulation/A2A Spitfire For X-Plane

    We have not heard much from developer A2A Simulations for quite some time now, with no new products from them so far in 2019 and nothing much else other than a few updates. So now it appears that we indirectly have news on what they have been up to with an announcement by Airtech Simulation that they are working on a Spitfire for X-Plane.

    SFD Global Released

    New from ShortFinal Designs is SFD Global, an all-in-one solution for a more immersive X-Plane world, combining new high-definition ground textures and forests with custom autogen from all over the world. New region specific autogen models will make each flight a unique experience, while modern rendering techniques like baked ambient occlusion and PBR materials will create a more realistic experience.

    VSKYLABS Aeros-2 Released

    VSKYLABS brings something from the smaller end of aviation to life with the release of their Aeros-2 Ultralight Trike Project for X-Plane. Announced over a year ago, this is an unusual craft that uses weight shifting and wing tilting for control. Owners of the previous Hang-Glider Project will be pleased to know that this is a free upgrade for them.

    Laminar Research continues to roll out new betas, with X-Plane 11 version 11.40 beta 5 now out. While the actual beta change is minor, just some crash fixes, the most impressive addition is over 1400 new 3D airports.
