OK, Valentines Day has passed but the Valentines Day Sale from FlightSoft is still ongoing. All single products are reduced to $18.00 (usually $34.95 to $39.95) and there are two special bundles just for this sale.
What is perhaps the most popular FS2004 scenery of all time VOZ 1.8 is again available, and can now be obtained via download from the FlightSim.Com file library. Though the original source of downloads went offline last year, a version of the file was found and with the permission of the original authors has been allowed to be hosted here. FS2004 users will surely enjoy using this fine collection of Australian scenery.
Virtualei.net (aka Aer Lingus Virutal) is celebrating its second birthday, showing steady growth and a structure change in the airline staff. New people have been brought into lead roles, breathing new life into the VA. A new look web site has also been developed, incorporating the new livery for Aer Lingus.
FlightSimExpo announces that there are already more than 30 initial exhibitors attending the June 7-9, 2019 event in Orlando. These include the largest names in hardware, software, and simulation platform development. Registration is also now open.
After posting our "Best Of 2018" article featuring our reviewers' favorite payware, the comments we got were "what about freeware" and "don't forget FS2004". So, thanks to Robin Meyerowitz who stepped up and put together his list of favorite FS2004 freeware for 2018. Maybe not exactly a "best of" but it represents a great collection of FS2004 add-ons in a variety of categories.
While FlightSimExpo 2019 is still some months away, the organizers are already looking ahead to 2020. They've put together a quick survey asking potential visitors when and where they would like the show to be. For 2019 they have just secured a new discount for people traveling to the show on Southwest Airlines. The 2019 show will be in Orlando this coming June.
Today we would like to welcome Lionheart Creations as the latest publisher to include their products in our new Store.FlightSim.Com Lionheart specializes in aircraft for Prepar3D, FSX and FS2004, mostly in the GA category. In their line-up you'll see such popular planes as the Diamond DA-40, Epic LT Dynasty and the classic Fairchild 24. For those wanting more speed they offer the Epic Victory and Learjet 24B bizjets. Other offerings range from the classics like the Junkers W33 and W34 to the futuristic Stingrey.
The built-in ATC in Microsoft Flight Simlator has long been consider a weakness of the sim. Two simmers set out to fix this, formed a company known as JDTLLC and released a series of products known as Radar Contact. The latest, and now final, version supports FSX and FS2004 and is now available for download as freeware. You'll also need to download the key generator to unlock it.
Reviewer Tony Vallillo offers us a history of the headset as used in aviation, going back the days of the leather helmet. Headsets improved greatly over the years and are now also available for flight simulator use. The Thrustmaster T-Flight Headset (USAF Edition) is one such set which Tony recently got to try and found it to be a simple plug and play device that worked well and was realistic compared to actual aviation headsets.

HJG's (Historic Jetliners Group) Christmas web site updates are now completed. This year's end of year releases requiring four separate updates since late November in order to ensure everything scheduled for release is released, for a total of some 144 new and upgraded aircraft files for both FS2004 and FSX.
During 9-25 of November 2018 Navigraph conducted a FlightSim Community Survey together with major add-on developers and organizations within the flight simulation community. The survey, the third of its kind, aimed to gauge the prevailing flight simulation trends and users' requests for future development. As one of the partners, FlightSim.Com encouraged our members to take the survey. In total, over 15,000 flightsimmers completed the survey and the full results are now available.
FlightSimExpo 2019 is coming to Orlando in June 2019. Today advanced ticket sales have opened, and the first 200 people can purchase tickets at a reduced price. Registration includes full, two-day event access, entrance to all seminars and panels, morning refreshments on Saturday and Sunday, and free appetizers and drinks during a social event on Saturday afternoon.
