    IndiaFoxtEcho DCS MB-339 Project Update And Flight Manual

    We are very pleased to announce that in the past few days we have completed a build of the DCS MB-339 which we believe it is good for release: we are submitting it to Eagle Dynamics for final testing.

    The testing and release process will take some time, so do not expect the module to be available in the next few days - but rest assured we'll keep you posted on the release date.

    As a teaser, and a final recap of the features of the package, here is the full product manual (no less than 272 pages!): we are very proud of the level of detail and realism of the package and we hope that the manual will help you appreciate it!

      If you are comparing this to the average price of MSFS aircraft then they are high. However, if you compare them to the likes of the PMDG 737 they are comparable. There is, to use your own term, an astronomical difference between DCS aircraft and the average MSFS aircraft. With the exception of the Flaming Cliffs 3 add-on, all of the aircraft are study level, with systems simulation beyond the average MSFS aircraft. The learning curve in DCS is orders of magnitude steeper than the most difficult MSFS aircraft, and the prices reflect that. These are not mere Point A to Point B flyers. You are navigating, communicating, and fighting all at the same time in aircraft that will kill you themselves if you are not respectful of their idiosyncrasies. They all go through months and sometimes years of production to get them right. I've been flying the DCS UH-1H for years, and I have to constantly practice to maintain the ability to fly it well. The skills in DCS are quite perishable, which is something that you don't really get in MSFS. I can tell you, the price point for DCS modules is more than fair. Take into account that if you have never bought one before, your first module is 50% off, and that there are many sales every year where they discounts everything from 20%-50% off, and you can get them for the same price or less than many MSFS aircraft. Also, there are many high quality freeware planes such as the recently released OV-10 Bronco from Split Wing that are almost payware in their quality. So if you look at buying maybe one or two a year to work on, then they are more than reasonably priced because you will get years of satisfaction out of mastering them.

      Can't argue with anything you say ryogahibiki345, but I still can't afford them though. New releases on DCS have steadily risen in dollar terms over the years, from around $40-$50 before 2018, then to $60 before 2020 and nowadays they launch at $80, an almost doubling in five years.

      Not only that, for those of us who live in countries with depreciating currencies, it has become a nightmare. For example, I used to buy modules (in South African Rand) at ZAR300-400 up to 2019. The Mirage F1 which launched the other day would have cost me ZAR1400, an almost four-fold increase. Thankfully they reduced the price after a month, but it is still too high for me.

      If you use the Big-Mac hamburger index, an $80 DCS module would cost someone in the US 15 hamburgers. That same module would cost us 30 hamburgers equivalent in South Africa. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that DCS World may still be an affordable hobby for people in the developed world, for the rest of us it has become a luxury, only for the super-wealthy.
