MSFS Top Gun Maverick Expansion Released

Become a Top Gun Pilot in Free Expansion Available Today.

We are thrilled to announce that, today Microsoft Flight Simulator released the long-awaited "Top Gun: Maverick" expansion. Develop the skills required and navigate the complexities encountered by actual Top Gun pilots in authentic locations including the most challenging landing – on an aircraft carrier. This offering will push your piloting abilities to the limits—and beyond.

The "Top Gun: Maverick" expansion contains:

    • A "Top Gun: Maverick Edition" livery for the F/A-18E Super Hornet.
    • Three training missions for the Super Hornet that will allow you to master radical flight maneuvers including unrestricted take-offs, split S maneuvers, and low altitude, high-speed maneuvering through complex terrain.
    • Five high-speed, low-level challenges that require utmost skill to navigate just above mountains and traverse through canyons.
    • A carrier deck landing challenge, one of the most demanding operations in the world of military aviation.
    • A never-before-unveiled hypersonic aircraft that can attain speeds of Mach 10 and altitudes greater than 150,000 feet above sea level.
    • A mission to roar into the stratosphere.

    Enjoy this free update!

Just tried it out! Best one yet!

Anyone experiencing a large white Blob, or Symbol right in the Center of the display, stays there from when the challenge begins, and only vanishes at the end of the flight?? Very distracting.

Otherwise, a great pilot challenge, low flying at high speeds in and thru mountainous terrain.

The blatant movie advertisement startup screen we're stuck with until the next update is really annoying. Why should a game we paid be hawking movies at us?

Because that is what is keeping MSFS from become subscription based. All that data storage and bandwidth aren't free. So unless you have some seriously deep pockets, I suggest that you just accept the reality of the situation and stop crying about things you obviously didn't think about first.

''.. stop crying about things ...''. Yep that's 'Reality' now a days. Pretty soon you won't be able to pour your coffee until you read ads provided. Then you won't be able to open your bath cabinet until you watch a video. No doubt then you will need to 'acknowledge' reading ad before you can FLUSH your toilet. HA. And it's coming sooner than you think.

I really appreciate FSMS since August 18, 2020, certainly some additions I like more than others, I'm more for "liners or simply vintage aircraft" but I admire the subject of free addons, especially improvements to parts of the world, it's really beautiful gifts that are given to us, it's still unique such addons offered for free, and the search for program improvements I just regret that we can not print flight plans, unmanaged collisions during taxing, but that's only minor flaws, everything else is great

Thank you. The FS9 & FSX days are long gone. Everyone wants more and more yet wants to still live in a virtual gaming world of 15-20 years ago with free access for everything. Those days are drawing to a close. Sony for example stopped allowing free online access for gaming online with buddies when the PS4 was released. Same with the Xbox which requires a minimum of a $10/mo game pass account. I wish video cards were still $250 too, but now we demand real world graphics at 4K, so I expect to pay 4x as much for a video card as I did 15 years ago when running a 1080p monitor... but that's another topic.
