The Daher Kodiak 100 is a high-wing prop utility aircraft built by Daher (formerly Quest) designed to carry up to 9 passengers or cargo. These aircraft can be found right across the world, flying from base airports to remote fields, transferring vital supplies to remote and hard to reach communities.

SimWorks Studios have recently offered up their version of the Kodiak 100 Series II. Best known for their military scenario simulation combining military jets and carriers, including their fantastic F-4B/N Phantom II, this is their second aircraft entry for MSFS, having previously released the Zenith CH701.

With a lot of hype around the release of the aircraft that continues to this day, I thought it was about time we took an in-depth look at this aircraft and see what it's really about.

Wow $40 USD is pretty sporty for this. I'm sure it has a great flight model and visuals including interior, but that's getting up there in complex jet payware pricing territory with something that has a Garmin cockpit based on the default sim.

Sure, I think the price is high for a turbo-prop. In this SIM MSFS 2020 I grab some of the best Karats to keep me satisfied with the SIM. This is a good aircraft going to be great. There are some small issues, one being taxi speed management but that and others will be handled.

I love to fly this plane (in the sim, of course). I have only one frustrating problem with it. I like to manually enter flight plans into the G1000 NXi, using my mouse to turn the knobs. In other MSFS planes equipped with the NXi, I can use my yoke hat switch to get a dedicated camera view of the MFD, including the knobs. But I cannot get such a whole-panel, knobs-included, view of the Kodiak's MFD. If there's a keyboard shortcut for this, I haven't found it. I can manually enter flight plans through the inset on the Kodiak's PFD, but this workaround is less than satisfactory. If anybody knows of a better workaround, I would like to hear about it.

In the meantime, I hope that Simworks will update the Kodiak to give us the same dedicated MFD camera view that we have with Asobo's planes.
