Carenado Releases C337 Skymaster II For MSFS 2020

Aircraft designer Carenado has announced that their C337 Skymaster II has been released for MSFS 2020.

Also known as the "push-pull" twin, this very popular and commercially successful aircraft is an icon in general aviation.

With its peculiar front/rear engines layout, it is commonly used for recon, surveillance, transport, cargo, firefighting activities and military missions.

It was designed in an era when twins accidents were very common, so two engines in the same axis was a novel idea in order to make them more secure.

Its particular silhouette makes it one of the easiest planes to spot all around the world.

Twin engine, 4 seats, 210 HP (each engine), max speed of 173 KTS and a maximum range of 965 NM are its main features.

    Features

    • 5 liveries
    • GNS530
    • GTN750 integration option (GTN750 from pms50.com).
    • BK RDR2000 weather radar.
    • KX 165 Nav/Com radio.
    • Custom KR87 ADF.
    • KT76A Transponder.
    • Cold and dark / Ready to taxi / Ready for takeoff start options.
    • Engine and wind sound effects when opening doors and windows.
    • Original HQ digital stereo sounds recorded directly from the real aircraft (engine, knobs, switches, buttons and different elements).
    • Realistic flight dynamics compared to the real airplane. Realistic weight and balance. Tested by several pilots for maximum accuracy.
    • Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials and textures.
    • PBR materials authored with industry-standard software used by the film and gaming industries.
    • Tablet interphase for controlling static elements, pilots, opening doors, etc.; and starting options such as cold and dark and ready to taxi.

Available only in the in-game marketplace.

Agreed except for the sounds. That's the one knock I have against Carenado but fortunately they've started to price their aircraft correctly. I've been speaking to Arezone and they're already developing a sound pack for this baby. Once you add the correct sounds to their birds it puts them in the $35 USD price range. All of their exterior sounds ruin the flight sim experience because their exterior sounds are "made up". Once you hear it, you can't "un-hear it". This aircraft does look and perform well though.

Thanks for that info! Will keep an eye out for the update!

I bought it on the MSFS marketplace but every time I try to launch it, the sim crashes. I have other Caranado planes, and this is the only one that makes it crash to desktop. All other payware, freeware, and default aircraft work just fine, so it's something specifically with the C337 which is a shame as it's one of my favorite GA aircraft. If I can't get it to work, I am going to get a refund.

Have you tried uninstalling the aircraft and reinstalling it? Also reaching out to Carenado for support before refund? They might be able to help you out, it is their aircraft.

Yes, I did, and it is now working well. It was in fact due to running in DX12(Beta). Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, this was exactly the problem. I switched it back to DX11 and all is well. Thank you for the info.

After flying this plane for a few hours now, I do not hear what you hear. In fact, the C337 is quiet well known for being stupidly loud to the point of being painful on long haul flights, make sure you have the prop sync on, and pull MP and prop pitch to climb then cruise settings, and you'll hear a big difference in the exterior sound.

How did you switch back? I'm having the same issues and I can't seem to find how to do this.

The original thread had lots of interest, but is getting too large. A short flight from Phillipsburg, Kansas to Holdrege, Nebraska. You fly over...
