    MSTS: Junkers JU-52 Teaser

Coming soon! The Microsoft Flight Simulator team is thrilled to announce the release of an incredibly detailed Junkers JU-52 add-on for the platform on September 7, 2021.

In Germany, the Junkers JU-52 is lovingly called "Tante JU" or "Aunt JU." The team has gone to great lengths to recreate the plane as authentically and accurately as possible, working with the grandson of the original designer, Hugo Junkers, and with an organization that preserves one of the last surviving examples of this historically significant aircraft.

    The sky is calling!

Pity that the developers had to choose the "lovingly" named "Tante JU," the Junkers Ju-52, as their first Local legend.

It was of course flown by Lufthansa, SAA, and other airlines, but it's more famous to the rest of the world as the aircraft that featured for several minutes at the beginning of the infamous propaganda movie Triumph of the Will -- flying thro' clouds to stirring Wagnerian style music, carrying Adolf Hitler, lovingly shown at the aircraft window looking down on the world, before landing in Nuremburg for the 1934 Nuremburg Nazi Rally.

Later, it was of course the chief transport plane for the Nazi invasions across Europe and Scandinavia, into Russia and the Balkans, and in the invasions of Greece, Crete and North Africa.

"Local" to some, maybe, not so local to much of the world, nor so lovingly remembered ...

      100% true.

With so many classic and vintage aircraft ignored because excuses of not be popular, this Ju-52 choice is a bit…..

It remembers me many ww2 magazines of plastic model kits and ww2 games, were the cover should have a Nazi panzer to sell it better :/

      Postscript FYI:
When I tried to post this on the MSFS site in the General Discussion section, it was quickly moved -- and buried at the bottom of a debate about JU-52 accidents from months ago.

I unterstand quite well, that you might be obset about the 'familiarized' designation of "Tante JU". The three Ju-52 used by the Swiss Ju-Air where called like this by all people here in Switzerland. And this since I was a young boy beginning the Fifties.

Unfortunately or luckly, WWII is already very far away, and almost nobody here in Central Europe does still assimilate the plane with its darkest hours. Not even in Germany. Maybe that in Crete some very old persons might still remember the days, when the dozens and dozens Ju-52 dropped out hundereds of paratroops there.

As well as almost nobody today, seeing a restored Heinkel He-111, would think about, that once these aircraft bombed half of England, although they has been used by the Spanish Air Force until late Sixties. And somehow 'trivialized' in the 1969 movie 'Battle of Britain'.

Thanks for your reply, Bernard, although I doubt that there is any aircraft so closely associated with Hitler personally and with Nazi aggression.

I also understand your point about people having little memory of those times, and being happy to forget them -- but we should at least remember the famous saying, that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Great ...... If we had some interesting vintage light aircraft, we had to wait almost a year to finally have a DC-6, and a Grumman Widgeon, soon a DC-3 and this JU-52. I hope it will continue in the genre. because personally I am a little tired of having only flying computers that are the jet liners, which if of course I prefer to use to travel in reality, are much less fun to pilot on a simulator of the quality of FSMS
