Bill Ortis Reminisces About Piper Pacer Series

The Piper Pacer package was an example of getting carried away with variations, lol... I just wanted to make the taildragger version Pacer. That's all. Suggestions began to pour in. What about the one with this panel. What about that panel. What about floats? Finally, what about the Tri-Pacer? You 'gotta' have that!

The Piper Pacer officially became a Mega-Pack...including bush versions with mud and tundra tires...All from a simple tail dragger...

Your superb Pacer series, along with the equally outstanding Fairchild 24, are without a doubt the two vintage GA types I fly more than any other airframes of ANY type. When I have the time to spare, I can literally spend an entire afternoon just making a long cross-country in my favorite bush pacer, and completely lose track of "real world" time!
I've flown both for so many hours that were they real-world aircraft I would have maxed-out engine and airframe time, and would have required complete engine rebuilds and a full reskins by now! Of all the payware aircraft in my hangars, from Carenado and Captain Sim, to Alabeo and A2A, to Just Flight and Aerosoft, and GAS and Nemeth and several others, only yours and the Sibwings An-2 have such realistic VCs and interior detail (to go along with gorgeous exterior skins), and such realistic (not jumping-about) flight dynamics to hold my immersion level for multi-hour flights. Others seem to scrimp somewhere, and that totally spoils the experience for me. But well beyond that finicky and lumbering Antonov, yours are by far the truer joy to fly. I fear in these days of P3D and MSFS, I may be in the minority of long-time, graybeard sim-pilots out there who is more than content with FSX (especially after I've come-up in all previous iterations from FS5 on-up), but I would sincerely love it if you would continue to develop more of the classic, vintage aircraft types for all the platforms, and yessir, I'd pay a fair premium price for more in FSX. You have an absolute gift for the finest of details, sir, and I cannot get enough! Thank you for many thousands of hours of wonderful flights!
