You got to love all these companies nowadays using us public for their QA testing. And wording it like its a favor to us.

Sure, it's so terrible when a company offers their customers a way to enjoy updates to software as they move forward to developing new features.

I can't think of a better way to test a product than to get the end users to put it through it's paces. That way a product can be tested in so many more situations, by so many more systems than a company can hope to do in this age of instant gratification. I've come across it not only in the flightsim community, but with other gaming software and with commercial business software too. Personally I like the opportunity to have a say in the performance of the final product.

I agree! I think it's the fastest way to high quality software and additionally is a way to see what the highest priority to users is!

That's what Microsoft did with MSFS isn't it? Are we unhappy with it? I think not!

I just updated my copy of REX's weather app and now it demands my login, email, and the key code EVERY time I launch the program!!! I understand why they need the keycode, their product is a delightful upgrade to the default weather, so virtually every simmer worth his/her salt will want it, but entering this data EVERY time is ridiculous. I'd rather fly with the default and will be doing so in the future.

As for testing on the public, comparing a little app like REX's to MSFS is absurd. I'm a retired software developer and you have to consider scale when making comments like that. If MS waited until all (realistically, most) of the bugs were out, we'd have never gotten our hands on MSFS2020. The scope of the program is too big, as are their ambitions for it (like the big Japan upgrade). But there is no excuse for the producers of a small app not to do their due diligence, before releasing it into the wild.

Regarding being involuntary test subjects, users can provide feedback without having to be victims of sloppy or nonexistent Q&A.
