PMDG 737 NG3 For Microsoft Flight Simulator

It has been nearly a year since I told you that PMDG stands squarely behind Microsoft's re-entry to the simming market and we intend to release all of our core product lines (PMDG 737, PMDG 747, PMDG 777, PMDG DC-6) into this platform upon it’s arrival. Since that announcement I have been largely silent on the topic primarily because it didn’t seem to make much sense to share with you the few bits of information that I am allowed to share when so much of what we might share is subject to embargo.

With Microsoft's announcement of the pending release date for their initial version of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) I have been cleared to give you a bit of a view behind the scenes in order to help set your expectations with regard to PMDG’s products in the coming weeks and months.

Our first product release for MSFS will be the PMDG 737NG3. This product is being built using the core capability that emerges from our historic line of 737NG simulation technology. This product is not merely a conversion of the Prepar3D product line, but is a complete rebuild adapted specifically to utilize the new simulation engine of MSFS. It would be hard for me to overstate the enormity of this task and I will cover some of the reasons for this description in another post perhaps. Suffice to say that for the first time in 23 years, the entire PMDG development team is learning to work with an entirely new development process that bears little resemblance to the methods and technology we have been using for nearly a quarter century. For a number of years, we have all hoped that one day we would see a new simulation platform that capitalizes on the existing core simmer ecosystem while leveraging everything modern hardware has to offer. MSFS is rapidly growing to give us what we have wanted with all of the benefits that come from the speed and capability of a big-budget development effort.

If these developers that charge $80+ for aircraft think I am going to buy the aircraft over again for the new flight simulator they are mistaken. If I feel the need to do some systems flying I will launch FSX which has all the aircraft and use it. I was really hoping they would port the 737NG series and the 747x series to the new sim but I see that is very unlikely.

They had to keep silent about it - lmao. Let me guess, ooh the mists are clearing, yes, I can see something... are you making... a... Boeing 737?

Personally. I still fly FS9 and the PMDG-737 works great, I been flying it since I bought it in 2005. I have since moved to FSX, and I really do not like the version they have for it. Lets face it, I remember when FSX was supposed to be such a great flight sim. I got it and everything looked like a desert and unless you had a new top of the line system, forget it. Lets not forget how Microsoft made all sorts of claims about how "Flight" was going to be the best thing you ever seen, and it was such a failure that Microfsoft gave up. Now MS2020 which sounds more like a disease than a flightsim. I am not going to go buy a new computer to fly it, and I rather doubt I will buy the new PMDG-737. I see something mentioned about P3D (another product I had no interest in) and how PMDG is learning how to build an aircraft within the new structure. Sounds akin to teaching an old dog new tricks. Yes I am an old dog, I guess it is time to forget flying online with all the trolls that VATSIM has accumulated, or spending a small fortune to risk a virus, or the money to buy a new sim and all the addons I am sure every company down the line will be selling. No, time for me to kick back and fly offline in my great and fantasitc FS9 world that I have built over the past 15 years. Oh ya, I been flying sims since FS4, and Chuck Yeagers Air Combat and many other really old great games. So to PMDG I will say I am glad to see you all supporting MS2020, I have high hopes the B-737 will be fantastic, I also hope MS2020 is everything they say it will be, even though it is all hush hush still.I personally have to think many will be disappointed.

Yes sir, Chuck Yeager's Air Combat was a lot of fun and there was a game called F16 Combat Pilot that was a lot of fun and all the other DOS games, I still fly FS9 also and like the FS Cargo add on that is a bush pilot missions generator. Stay safe and have a good day simming!

Well, I'm not sure why folk are saying that they will be disappointed with MSFS.. Sour grapes??Why 2020 is tagged onto it I'll never know!
Anyhow, nobody is forcing anyone to spend $80+ (where does that come from?) for an add-on.. Buy it, dont buy it, BUT consider it as a new add-on for a new sim, not an update/upgrade!

Ah yes.. FS9!! So, at the outset, I must say that I do not do PMDG's & such like. I'm more into the low's 'n slow's, manual flying, as it were.
I've also been flying since the brothers started gliding off the dunes & loaded up FS2004 the day the box landed (funny) on the shelves. So far, that's the only sim that I can have multiple installs, Alaska, Golden Wings, Vintage, Space, etc so I can have smaller installs, with dedicated planes & various scenery that does not conflict. Simming has gotta be Fun Fact & Fiction..

The most important thing is that the sim runs on basically most laptops & PC's & I spend more time flying than tweeking.

BUT, MSFS is exciting. The scenery, from what I've seen, is awesome. The planes stunning. My i5 8GB laptop that holds my sims, burst into tears when it saw the required specs. As for downloading MSFS, here in South Africa... 150GB ... By the time thats downloaded, it will be time for MSFS2525 (old timers will, maybe recognise the reference to that Zager & Evans music)

To those that have already pre-ordered, (why?) , those on the fence, & those eyeing the 18th... I hope your wishes come true & the sim is all that it is supposed to be..

Blue skys to all, FS9'ers, FSX'ers, the lot of you, GamerZ & SimmerZ Happy joysticking to all.

Since this is going to be a complete new aircraft I can understand if they charge. The question should be ratter if they are going to give the existing costumers a special price or discount. That is why I decided to wait on the other aircraft and just bought the 737. I did not want to buy them again for MFS.

[QUOTE=cxb744f;2116384]How about MD11? PMDG abandoned it? Yes THEY DID! And because they said it was too old. Just as we read before, we really love the old stuff!. Pmdg, let's put back the old stuff too!

Pmdg make it so we can install our fs9 products! Yes, some of us still fly the old stuff. And I am very disappointed in all of you who won't let us reinstall our old product that we bought and paid for!

Ok....... have you tried installing any FS9 product into X-Plane or Prepar3d this year?
      It didn't work?

Well thats the same thing with trying to add FS9 aircraft into FS2020....... it will not work.

FS9 came out 23 years..... no way it would work with 2020.
