Microsoft Flight Simulator June 11th, 2020 Development Update

    Alpha 4 Patch Notes

Welcome the Microsoft Flight Simulator Alpha 4 (build 1.4.2.0)!

In this update you'll find new content, bug fixes, and an updated list of known issues.

A note from the development team:

There are several fixes to our simulation of the B747 in this update. Most notably, the glass cockpit displays should be more accurate now and the overall autopilot functionality has been improved. Further visual improvements were made to the cockpits, airframe exterior, and to the visual effects. The overall experience has also undergone a polish pass.

Microsoft Flight Simulator June 11th, 2020 Development Update

Transversal fixes to improve both commercial planes, B747 and A320, have been implemented. Updates include V-Speed improvements, which should noticeably improve the flight performance, controls, and overall predictability during flight. Improvements were added to better represent your flight plan with more accurate calculations and visual representation in the displays.

The TBM 930 received a complete pass based on user feedback and improvements from our backlog.

Finally, the team has fixed lots and lots of bugs and added further polish across the entire experience. We still have room to improve, we look forward to your feedback.

Ho long before FS 2020 is to be release? will it be expensive to fly on line? will I be able to fly the aircraft using the keyboard like FS 2004 and FSX? Thanks for any feed back on the matter.

Looks like a screenie of potash mines near Moab, Canyonlands. Of course there could be others I'm not aware of.

It looks like ATC is in the top wish list. This is one thing I really, really hope they get right. It's perhaps my biggest pet peeve with FSX or FS2004 having a very mundane ATC. I'm hoping that the ATC in this new Sim is a more immersive and realistic experience spanning from emergency procedures to SID and STAR vectors. Then I would have ATC have different voices depending on the area of the world you are flying.

I have 36 years of Air Traffic control experience with ARTCC facilities. There is a need for MASS improvemnt with the current ATC experience in Flight SIm.

It's known as Microsoft Flight Simulator, or MSFS & we have been told that it should be released before the end of the year. Apart from that, no costs have been mentioned yet.

Why do you not use a joystick? For the kind of quality the new sim will be, a joystick is essential.

Well I hope the developers listen!

The existing ATC might sound OK to the casual observer but yes, it needs a massive overhaul. On an IFR flight plan I get handed off to the nearest airport rather than a control centre. Even little GA fields get used to vector inbounds to major airports (I'm thinking of the likes of Shoreham and Cranfield in the UK as 2 examples). Multiple AI traffic gets landing clearance at the same time; first past the post (i.e.1 mile from the runway) gets to land while the rest do go-arounds. I get landing clearance, only for a VFR Cessna to then get landing clearance as well and cut me up on short finals. Yes SID's and STAR's would be nice.
Whilst it may not be feasible to do voice packs for EVERY accent across the globe, a decent selection would make it sound more authentic, like hearing a French accent when in France etc. Adding some alternative terminology for different areas of the world as well e.g. "left hand circuit" in the UK rather than "left closed traffic". "Cleared to transit Bravo airspace" sounds like US terminology - don't think the UK has "Bravo airspace", more likely to hear "cleared to transit the control zone".

For the same reason I don't have a Flight Simulator with surrounding video screens in my home, I prefer to use the keypad. All of my computers have a keypad, not all of them have a joystick attached to them.
