    Welcome to another X-Plane scenery review, this time concentrating on Miami City XP by Drzewiecki Design. This was a scenery I was really looking forward to reviewing, especially with its exotic location (compared to Manchester). In addition to the Miami metropolis, Drzewiecki Design's scenery package also contains three additional airports:

    • KMIA Miami International Airport
    • KOPF Opa-Locka Executive Airport
    • KTMB Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport

    The fact that the developer has included these additional airports, was a real bonus, as it allowed me to explore the scenery from either a large international airport, or a small regional.

    Before I talk about my findings however, here is a quick look at some of the main features from the product description:

    • Fully compatible with X-Plane 11
    • Three FPS-friendly, lite sceneries of KMIA, KOPF and KTMB
    • Complete area of Miami including Miami Beach, North Miami, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, etc.
    • Whole area photo coverage with autogen, roads, railroads and other X-Plane native features
    • Hundreds of custom-made city buildings with photoreal textures
    • Up-to-date airport layouts
    • Each airport includes HDR lighting

    So with that out of the way, it was time to load up the scenery and start exploring - my first stop being Miami Beach. Straight away it was clear to see that the waterfront was well populated with skyscrapers and smaller buildings, with good use of ortho imagery. From above 2000 feet, the quality of the orthos works well, but if you drop below that, then the quality starts to disappear rather rapidly.

    The scenery also revealed a well modelled road network with plenty of moving vehicles, plus reasonably good building textures. Again, much like the orthos, these are best seen from a distance. As you can see from some of the aerial views, the ground texturing is on the whole, very good!

    Considering the size of the scenery, and also the number of objects used, the developer has done a sterling job at building placement. It really must have taken some time to place them in their correct locations. The roads of Port Boulevard and Rickenbacker Causeway lead across from the coastline to the main beach area, and were extremely well depicted.

      Really bad if mixed with KMIA. Very heavy on frame rates. Dont reccomend
