• Microsoft Flight Simulator Vs Satellite Comparison

    We've heard that the new Microsoft Flight Simulator will be using real world imagery for scenery. Youtuber "Mika" has created a video comparing known simulator images with real world satellite images to give you a chance to compare how well this will work.

    While interesting it's still early in the process, with the new sim not yet even in beta testing. But here's something for you to discuss in the meantime:

      With "real world satellite images" will it not be flat 2-D only?

      They are using photogrammetry techniques to generate 3D objects for at least some of the world. Note that they are probably using a mix of satellite and aerial imagery. Typically the higher detail areas on Google and Bing maps are from aerial photos, not satellite.
