    Just Flight - PA-38 Tomahawk

The latest GA aircraft from Just Flight's in-house development team is now on sale for P3D and FSX.

PBR materials (requires P3D v4.4 or later) and exceptionally detailed modelling throughout raise our new Tomahawk to a whole new level. Every instrument is constructed fully in 3D with smooth animations and systems include a custom-coded electrical system with functional circuit breakers, optional failures and functioning carburettor heat and primer.

Ten paint schemes are included and the Tomahawk features an authentic Lycoming O-235 sound set, accurate flight dynamics and provision for Flight1 GTN and GNS integration.

I am a big fan of Just Flight and have been for quite some time. They put out nice models and they continually work to improve them. This little Tomahawk is near and dear to my heart. It's what I got my PPL in. It looks amazing! I'm not "quite there" yet as far as purchasing it though. For two reasons. The first is that Just Flight seems to have priced all of their latest add-ons a bit steep. $41.99 US dollars for this model is a bit much for me. It's a basic trainer. Not a whole lot of bells and whistles on this little bird. Also, I've purchased the Arrow(s), Archer, and Cessna 152 from them. I also downloaded the Warrior Demo. I didn't purchase the Warrior because they've used the same soundset for each of these models. I sure hope this is a true and authentic Lycoming 0-235 soundset. A big part of enjoying the models are the engine sounds.

Agree 100% with everything you say Gary. I haven't purchased anything from justFlight in a while. They used to occupy the sweet spot between quality and value. While they still have the quality, their products simply don't offer value anymore. Only time I buy from them nowadays is when they have the odd +50% sale on a weekend.

Sound is very important to me as well and very under-utilised by developers. Aeroplane Heaven for example produce very good looking aircraft, but their sounds are atrocious and I've stopped buying their products as well. There aren't many developers in the sweet-spot of quality/value/good sound anymore - everyone's climbed on the P3Dv4/XP11 price-hike bandwagon. Pity

      Rooitou,

I have to agree with you as well. While I don't mind paying for a "good quality" add-on, when I feel as though the developer isn't offering just that, I look for the 50% off sale as well. Ironically I just picked up a Just Flight download this weekend at 50% off. Let me be clear, I do not mind paying full price when everything is there. A2A is a prime example of that.

I think Alabeo/Carendo have somewhat figured that out with their add-ons so they've priced them right. You know you're going to get bugs and their sound files are rarely ever true to the model, however I think they've figured out that "sweet spot" as you eluded to regarding their pricing. It's just my opinion only, but if this Tomahawk was somewhere in the upper $20 to lower $30 price range, I probably would have immediately purchased it. But once again their pricing has become a bit too steep for me.

Think you and I are on the same page. I also like the Alabeo/Carenado aircraft, close enough to A2A quality and for the price it is an easier sell. I even wait for the once-a-year A2A sale as well, can't get myself to pay their full prices. Wonder sometimes how developers determine price and if 10,000 units at $20 isn't better than 1,000 units at $40? Or perhaps the market is not as sensitive to price as we think.
