• Where in the World Feature 118

Wow! Apparently Where in the World Feature #117 (a place I called home in the early 1980s) was super-tough. Seemed to me that folks could have seen the B747-8i and looked for this video:

but we had relatively few attempts and VERY FEW correct answers; A super-big CONGRATS to the 3-4 folks that figured the answer as Conejo Valley, CA (also including Thousand Oaks or Newbury Park). As near as I could find, Simi (further north) means "dryness" and as one person surmised, San Fernando Valley (home of the famous Valley Girls) is generally considered part of Greater Los Angeles. Ventura is not an elevated plane so, only Conejo has reference to "Rabbit". (See local logos.)

These folks here were at least brave enough to take a stab at the clues:

    Charlie Aron
    Reid Gearhart
    Steve Morley
    Daniel Ittner
    Viggo Butler
    Paul Close
    Wil de Boer
    Mike Guttman
    Melo Scanlon
    Thomas Oftedal
    Dennis Knight
    Bob Bina

Some of the wrong locations included:

    • Ojai, CA
    • Utah
    • Sierra/Nevada
    • Santa Monica, CA
    • Fruita, CO
    • Fallbrook, CA
    • Simi Vally, CA (maybe should get half-credit?)
    • Rabbit Valley, CO

Onward to Feature Number 118 sent in by Hans Tremenrud. "An airport likely more popular in the simulator than in the real world. It's northern so it's cold and dark (and challenging to fly to) in the winter (and maybe year 'round)." The procedural turns required to get into this place are something else!
