• Orbx - First ever 100% PBR airport coming to P3D/XP11

Orbx CEO John Venema announced today in their forums that they now have the first 100% PBR airport in the development pipeline for both Prepar3D and X-Plane 11. For those still not up on their imaging technology, PBR (Physically Based Rendering) is used in the creation of 3D objects in simulators, including aircraft and buildings. It shades and renders the objects in a way that more accurately represents how light interacts with surfaces making for a more realistic look. We've been seeing more and more PBR appearing lately, but Orbx is now going all-in.

Also interesting is the announcement that, working with now in-house team Turbulent Aviation, a new PBR workflow is being established that will not only continue to enhance the use of PBR technology but also make possible the creation and release of both Prepar3D v4 and X-Plane 11 scenery at the same time.

As a tease, a couple of screen shots from the mentioned airport were released--though not what airport it actually is!

I'm going to guess KMCO to go with their new Orlando CityScape. I could be wrong and have been before but, I going off their latest releases and the fact that they have made no indications as to ever doing the US East and Central regions.

A little confused by the statement "For those still not up on their imaging technology, PBR (Physically Based Rendering)"....one would think that Orbx discovered this. A bit of an overreach.

You're reading something into my statement that really is not there. Given the wealth of acronyms we use in the hobby I just wanted to make sure newcomers knew what this term meant.

I'm still hung up on PBR... I'm old enough to remember when that meant Pabst Blue Ribbon

This air file doesn't have a 505 engine data section. Has anyone else come across this anomaly ? Is there a good reason for its omission ?
