    VSKYLABS DC-3/C-47 Flying Lab Project

    Current version v2.7b3 of the VSKYLABS DC-3/C-47 Flying Lab Project is now being HEAVILY developed to reach v2.8, which is going to be an important milestone, as it will set the project to stabilize as the:

    VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Project

    Main reason for this is that the whole project was initially developed to follow the C-47A aircraft and POH. The cockpit was modeled and further developed after the original C-47 Skytrain cockpit. The airframe and cargo/cabin are about to complete their full evolution to become a C-47A by definition.

    Shortly after, the project is going to split into three separated projects:

    1. The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Project
    2. A VSKYLABS Modern DC-3 Project
    3. A VSKYLABS Turboprop DC-3 Project

    No.2 and 3 above (the modern DC-3 and the turboprop DC-3) are completely new projects and will not be included in the No.1 (C-47) project as future updates.

    All existing features of No.1 above (current project) will remain (seats configuration will be optional).

    No.2 above, is going to be a new, modern version of the DC-3. Cockpit will be modeled after the HB-IRJ DC-3 (known as the Breitling DC-3). Needed approvals from its real-life owner and chief pilot were acquired, to use its cockpit layout and photos as the base of the VSKYLABS DC-3 project. Because there is a deep difference between a C-47 and a modern DC-3, in terms of cockpit layout, avionics, systems, cabin and other aspects, this will turn into a new, separated, standing on its own project.

    No.3 above is quite similar...a new, heavily modified aircraft, with turboprop engines, advanced glass cockpit avionics which will stand on its own as well. This will be the third step in the project's evolution.

    These three projects are one of the core elements within the VSKYLABS development road-map for 2019. However, the first VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Project update will be designated as v2.8 of the existing project, and will be released within the next few weeks. Continuous development and update plan for this project will of course continue.
