Once again a significant step up in quality. They are actually able to taxi now, if you know what I mean - and you will know if you have tried earlier VCOL turboprops.

Looks-wise, well, these are still no A2As or Carenados, but they are easily what I call "good enough". The most noteworthy improvement is the VCs, they've reached a point here where I'd say "there's absolutely nothing wrong with them." Apart from one thing maybe, and that being the glareshield blocking the view on parts of the Saab 2000's glass cockpit in standard camera configuration.

If you're a study level pilot or anything close to it, these are certainly not for you, but for just hopping in enjoying the flight, VirtualCol delivered another nice set of planes here. I hope they update more of their early released in the same way. The Fokker, the Dash 8, the E-jet family... still enough work to do, VCO! ;-)

Some issues on the Saab still need fixing though, for example the vertical speed selector knob in the 340's VC doesn't work.

Totally agree. Not a study sim but great just to get in and fly and at a rational price point.

Hope they do update some of their products

Got it yesterday and it is an improvement. Now for some repaints please especially new Loganair colours and a Loganair cargo.

Yes, it has surprisingly few liveries for a Virtualcol pack... only two or three dozen or so

Unfortunately, there's no paintkit available as of now. I really hope the give us one.

Correction: The vertical speed knob DOES work - but only when VS mode is active!

Bought it yesterday and as a test took an Adria Cargo Saab 340 for the short hop from LOWG to LJLJ.
First impression: a nice looking plane from the outside and the virtual cockpit is a quantum leap forward for Virtualcol. No more dull and glossy-textured blank spaces to the left, right or behind, but nicely textured all around.
Having checked with airliners.net the panel is a good and actual representation of a Saab 340 cockpit with every gauge where it shoud be and most switches working. (Haven´t had the time yet for a deeper check, if the system logic behind the switches is fully implemented, but I rather doubt so).
Engine start worked flawlessly and the autopilot did what it should, first using HDG and VS mode with target altitude set, then switching to FMC. On approach, when switching to APP mode it flawlessly captured localiser and glide slope and - having disengaged tie autopilot at 500 ft - manual landing was smooth.
Had no chance yet to take the 2000 for a spin.
Conclusion: a nice pack with two aircraft and lots of liveries for little money.

Once the product is in your store do owners of the original SAAB pack have to repurchase the updated package?

I like that you gave those of us that purchased this previously a coupon, thank you for that, but to charge a "reactivation" fee? I understand the fee to discourage use of the site as a place to back up your purchases. But this is an update.

No, it was not released as an update by VCO, it is a new product. The discount for owners of the old version is also offered by VCO, not only on flightsim.com.

      Ok, that makes sense then.

No problem. As far as I understood though, you have to purchase the V2 at the same vendor as you had purchased the V1 to take advantage of that offer.

Yes I got the discount automatically applied by my vendor.

Like the vast majority of my purchases, I got it right here at Flightsim. I'll probably download it tonight. Curious as to how it is. Its nice to sometimes have a nice plane that is easy to use. I love my study level planes, but occasionally, I just want to put one in the air quick and easy. I like Virtualcol for that. I am sure it doesn't compare to the Xaviation Saab for XP11, but that is study level. So far my experience with Virtuoacal is you get a decent product for very little money. Somewhere between freeware and study level. If anyone else already bought this one, I'd love to see a review.

At least for the newer releases, I can confirm that. The Saab here, the CRJ, the ATR version 2... they are really getting somewhere. There older releases though, well, you have to be careful with these. The turboprops generally are nearly impossible to taxi, the models of the Dorniers would be subpar even as freeware. I'm really enjoying to watch this studio evolve into a serious add-on provider.

What is a huge plus for them is their choice of models. All these commuter planes, lovely! There really was not much choice in that market segment just a few years back. It looks a bit different today though. In fact, this is the second time in a row VCO had bad luck with their release timing: When they released their CRJ, Aerosoft just released theirs too, and now the same thing happened with the Saab and Carenado.

Finally Virtualcol is making reasonable good texturing... too bad this isn't available for FS2004 also.
