    The Aircraft

The PA-28-161 Warrior II has been around in the real world since the 1970's and is one of the many variants in the PA-28 range. The aircraft is a single engine, single wing, all metal bodied light aircraft, and in the case of the Warrior II, has fixed tricycle landing gear. With a fixed pitch propeller and four seats in the cabin, it is ideal for flight training and touring. The following article focuses on the PA-28-161 Warrior II on offer from the Just Flight and Thranda Design teams. The model being reviewed follows on from their Arrow III and Turbo Arrow III/IV aircraft and has been specifically designed for X-Plane 11.

    Getting Started

I purchased my copy over at www.fspilotshop.com, and as with most sites of this nature, there is an excellent description of the features, what is included in the package and most importantly the minimum system requirements. It is a large download at almost 1GB, and based on the description provided, to get the best out of your prospective purchase, you will need a system with a powerful CPU and GPU; one with at least 4GB VRAM.

It is one of the more expensive aircraft available in this range, and at $41.99 it may not be within everyone's budget, so before you purchase it, best be sure it is right for you. With the continued development of X-Plane and in particular the introduction of X-Plane 11, higher prices are sadly just a sign of the times, with average purchase prices creeping closer and closer to the 50-dollar mark. With the steadily growing numbers of X-Plane 11 dedicated aircraft on the market, knowing where to spend those dollars is becoming more and more of a challenge, so hopefully reviews of this type will give you some further insights into whether aircraft such as the PA-28-161 Warrior II are one to add to the wish list.

If however, you do decide to take the plunge, once you have made your purchase, installation is straight forward. Simply unzip the downloaded file and drag and drop into your X-Plane 11 Aircraft folder. The first time you start the Warrior II, you will be required to enter a license key - this is provided with the download and only takes a couple of minutes to enter and activate. I had no issues.

At least at the moment, this plane does NOT work with X-Plane 11 on Mac iOS Mojave. Hopefully an update will be available soon.
