Emerald Scenery Design Alaskan Mesh Project Expands To Cover ORBX SAK

The Alaskan Mesh Project is expanding to cover ORBX SAK!

This scenery is in the late stages of development. It will include a base layer of 10 meter mesh (Double the resolution of the current ORBX SAK mesh) with select areas in 3 meter resolution. 3 meter areas currently include Eklunta Glacier, Valdez, a greater part of the Kenai Peninsula and the lower Matanuska Susitna river valley area. (Continued on from the current AMP: SE coverage area.)

At the same time of the SAK release, we will be pushing an update for the current Alaskan Mesh Project coverage area, which (BTW) shall then be known as AMP: SE. This update will expand the 10 meter coverage area with newly released data (Courtesy of USGS) bringing the total coverage area to roughly 224,359 km2. Alongside this expansion, we have also reexported all of the 10 meter data as 32-bit GeoTiffs instead of the latter 16-bit. This allows for more precise data. Included in this update will also be a fix for the Nome Creek 3 meter coverage area. This will fix an issue where a setting during compile caused the tops of some mountains to be cut off. Both Nome Creek and Fairbanks overage areas have also been optimized to decrease file sizes by cropping a lot of empty data from their GeoTiffs.

To accommodate this new release, instead of slapping a download box on our web site, we have decided to create a page dedicated to this entire scenery project. This web page will include an interactive map where you can see both the 3 meter and 10 meter coverage areas of all current Alaskan Mesh Project releases. Alongside giving an accurate depiction of the coverage area, this dedicated page will also keep things organised as we add to this project in the future.
