• Review: rkApps - XPRealistic for X-Plane 11

    Functions

Once installed and with X-Plane 11 running, you will need to locate the GUI so as to active the add-on. This is located in the top toolbar: Plugins, FlyWithLua, FlyWithLua Macros, XPRealistic Pro. When selecting the XPRealistic Pro option, a fairly basic, but easy to use GUI opens for the user to interact with - this is the main hub for this particular add-on.

From this hub, the user can select from a variety of options. These include whether the add-on will be active on a particular aircraft, are any 3rd party camera add-ons being used, and what profile to assign (included or user created).

In total there are 23 different effects included within the package, with the user having total control over which ones are included with what aircraft.

    Testing It Out

As mentioned in the introduction, XPRealistic is compatible with both default and add-on aircraft, and since testing the plugin, I have not experienced a single issue.

When using the main cockpit 3D view, XPRealistic's enhancements now allow the camera to shake, allowing for far greater realism from inside the cockpit. The cockpit will now move depending on the gravitational forces exerted on the aircraft; either from the weather or from the pilot's input. Both takeoffs and landings are far more enjoyable thanks to this add-on, and the included sound effects only enhance the experience.

If one was lucky enough to have a VR headset and a decent pair of headphones, I think you'd be hard pushed to find a more immersive virtual experience!

As mentioned earlier, this add-on works in much the same way as Accu-Feel, where a UI is used to determine how much a particular effect impacts on an aircraft. While XPRealistic may not be as in-depth or at the same level as its MSFS/P3D cousin, it's not that far behind, and hopefully in time, will be improved so that it reaches the same level.

    Opinion And Closing Remarks

In summing up, I'd have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by what this simple add-on managed to achieve in X-Plane 11. Laminar Research's latest and greatest is already pretty realistic, so for this add-on to go one better, is quite an achievement.

X-Plane's realistic flight dynamics have always been its most desirable feature, and with XPRealistic you now get to enjoy these even more! At only $19.99 this is a fairly inexpensive add-on for X-Plane, and one that I would definitely recommend.

This purchase was a no brainer for me. There are a considerable number of variables that can be adjusted, more that Accu-Feel. It take some experimentation to get the settings of these features adjusted to your liking.

Love it, great price. Real value for money.
