Having previously produced only real aviation apps, XPRealistic represents rkApps first foray in the world of flight simulation. In this review, I will be looking at what this product adds to X-Plane 11, and whether or not it enhances the sim in a substantive way.

Since the enhancements this add-on offers are best viewed in real time, the majority of this review will be done by video:

    Features

XPRealistic is an add-on aimed at not only adding realistic effects to the camera within X-Plane, but also to the aircraft found in the simulator; this includes default and add-on aircraft. If you're familiar with Accu-Feel by A2A, then you'll have a good idea of what I'm talking about, as it allows the user to select whether or not a particular effect is active.

    Download And Install

The installation of this package (compared to other add-ons I have reviewed) does require a bit of work, but this does not take too long to complete.

When purchasing XPRealistic from the FSPilotShop, you are provided with a ZIP file which includes all the files needed (minus the plugin), plus an unlock key. You are also required to have the plugin, 'FlyWithLua', pre-installed into the simulator as this is what the add-on requires so as to function.

This is a free package and is available to download from the X-Plane forums (an account is required to download):

    Download FlyWithLua

Once FlyWithLua is downloaded, extract the plugin into your X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins folder. With this installed, go to X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/Scripts/ and extract the contents of the FSPilotShop ZIP file into this folder. It is also recommended that you delete or remove the contents of the FlyWithLua/Scripts folder first, as this prevents any confusion or errors occurring.

This purchase was a no brainer for me. There are a considerable number of variables that can be adjusted, more that Accu-Feel. It take some experimentation to get the settings of these features adjusted to your liking.

Love it, great price. Real value for money.
