Developer Cielosim, renowned for their acclaimed KPAO Palo Alto Airport scenery, have released a new and exciting version 1.1 of KJAX Jacksonville International Airport for FSX and P3D.

For those of you unfamiliar with KJAX Jacksonville, let me fill you in with a few small details. The airport 13 miles north of downtown Jacksonville, Florida is served by the following airlines: Air Canada, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Jetblue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines. Because of its location, KJAX is a dream come true to not only virtual airline simmers but also to those pilots looking for the more scenic flying experience.

One of these scenic experiences you can attempt in the sim is to fly from KJAX above famous U.S. Route 1 and follow the eastern shore to either Miami or Key West giving you extremely gorgeous view of the Florida beaches along the highway!

Whatever direction you choose, the view out of the window is incredible. Then there are the numerous regional commuter flights using your favorite prop plane to tempt you. Because of KJAX's location, the airport also offers regional flights and these are ideal if you want to explore the 'ins out outs' of Florida renowned for plenty of natural beauty! If neither of the above get your juices flowing, how about a trip to the Bahamas? Here you can mimic the prop flights of real world airline Silver Airways and explore this stunning coast.

If you're more of the cargo type flyer, then you'll be glad to know that both FedEx and UPS operate out of KJAX, and choosing this route opens up all sorts of possibilities.

For those of you with a keen interest in the military, you will be happy to know that the 125th Fighter-Interceptor Wing consisting of F-15 Eagles is stationed at Florida Air National Guard base at KJAX. Here, regional airliners are substituted for F-15C and F-15D interceptors. So if the need for speed is driving you...look no further.

In short, KJAX Jacksonville International Airport offers an incredibly wide and varied flying experience to the FSX/P3D flyer, especially you have never been so spoiled for choice!

All the above sounds great...but how does this scenery perform in the simulator? Should you open your wallet and part with your hard earned cash? Let's find out!

However, before I get started on the 'meat' of the review, I'd like to talk about the incredible technical support I received from Cielosim. Upon installing the scenery, I found there was a slight issue. After contacting the developers regarding this anomaly, I awaited for their response. From experience with other developers, the usual waiting time is around 24 hours or more. However, to my surprise, the developers replied to my email after 15 minutes. In total, I had the opportunity to use their technical support nine times over the period of testing, and on each occasion, the tech support exceeded my expectations with their responses averaging between 15 minutes and 2 hours in replying time. Not only did they resolve my original issue, but they also implemented ideas I had put forward to them. In my opinion, this kind of support goes above and beyond what you would normally expect from a software company, and I congratulate them wholeheartedly on their approach.

For those of you who put customer support at the forefront of a potential purchase, I would not hesitate to recommend purchasing from Cielosim. Not only do they have support and contact details on their web site, but they also have a lively Facebook page in which to contact them. With that said, let me continue with the review.

Installation was smooth, painless and error free. The installer even added the airport scenery to my scenery list, meaning that it was ready to use straight away. You'll be amazed at how many sceneries you would have to add manually into the scenery library!

For testing, I decided on using Eastern Air Lines' real world route from KCLT Charlotte, NC to KJAX Jacksonville, FL using the waypoints SSC CHS HILTU STARY KOBNE. This route offers some quite stunning beauty of America's Southeast coast before picking up Jacksonville airport's runway 14 for approach and landing.

Great review Aharon, and I am also a fan of the airport, especially being a cargo hub and military base. As you say, this airport caters to many varied tastes.
