• Flightsim.Com Upgrade Issues

    FlightSim.Com 20th Anniversary

We are still working on some issues with the web site, as well as dealing with a DDOS attack. This is the cause for the problems some people are experiencing. If you see the "Cloudflare" page just ignore it and wait the 5 seconds until the actual page loads; this is part of the DDOS defense we are using and will be removed when it's not longer necessary.

For other problems, the first thing to try is a forced reload of the page. This may be as simple as hitting CTRL-F5 (works with Firefox, may be different on other browsers). The next step is clearing your browser cache. This will fix most problems.

    Original Message

If you are having any problems then you need to clear your browser cache and cookies. Exactly how you do that depends on your browser. If that doesn't fix it, go to a command prompt and run the following command:

    ipconfig /flushdns

We apologize for this problem. It was caused by a misconfiguration in our new DNS service. If you have any problems, please let us know:

    [email protected]

Included your IP address and a traceroute for your computer as described below.

    Thank you for your patience!

    Here are the quick directions:

Get your IP address from www.whatismyip.com
    traceroute to www.flightsim.com

Detailed directions: Click the "Start" button in Windows and enter "cmd.exe" in the search window and press Enter. At the command prompt, type "tracert www.flightsim.com" followed by the Enter key. Once it has completed and returned to the prompt, click the icon in the upper left hand of the window, click Edit and then "Select All". This will reverse video the window. Then, click the same icon, click "Edit" and then "Copy". You can now paste the output into your email and send it to us. Please do not forget to add your IP address to the email. Thank you for your help!

      Just a minute.
I have once in the past cleared cookies and cache to fix a problem.

This resulted in my loosing every one of my saved passwords and logons on litterly hundreds of sites. It was a disaster.

So, is there a way to just clear only the flightsim.com cookies and it will then fix issues.

      Bryan

Can I just go into firefox cookies and remove the flightsim.com ones.

It's certainly worth a try. Letting your browser save your passwords
is not the best idea. If you have a lot of passwords, there are many
good password managers that are either free or pay. Maybe this is
a good time to do that.

I say that, but I am really sorry this happened to you folks.

      Regards,
      Rick

I tried sending an e-mail as per above, but got my email returned with:

The user [email protected] does not accept mail from your address.

I have done all the steps above, including clear my cache, and yet I am still having the same issue.

Yes, just scroll through the list and delete any flightsim cookies. You will have to enter your login data again on the next visit.

You're often told to delete all cookies in solve a problem ...and you see what happens. But I periodically purge the cookie list of any I do not recognize (nearly every site you visit now, no matter how briefly, will dump one or more). There are a couple of handy cookie manager plugins for Firefox.

Just as a heads up, there's a neat little freeware programme called Advanced Cookie Manager. It will back up your cookies to a text file, which can be reimported if things go wrong - or you can use it to clean up your cookies and revert to those that you are fine with, deleting those you are not. The text file can be edited directly of course, or using the programme interface. Well worth installing.

Tapatalk (IOS) was working but not now this weekend. Also Opera Mini (IOS) can't get past the browser check. Safari does though.

I recently had problems uploading screenshot pics, after a day or two I could do it but now the problem has come back again.
I even resized the pics, rebooted the PC and router but no joy.
Also I am waiting more like 45-50 seconds to access the site then if I log in I'm waiting again.

What in layman's terms is causing this problem with the upgrade?

Try using the Basic Uploader for screenshots for the time being!

OK, Ity seems for some reason I always appear to be crying all the time. I read what has been posted so far.
Now I have used Flightsim.com for YEARS, I have and always Clear Cookies and my browser everytime i close Firefox, I might just go online to 2 or 3 sites, then close and clear everything. It is a habit to be sure all is well. So as this CLOUDFLARE thing seems to have been going on now for a while, I must say that just withing the last 20 min or so, I tried to access Flightsim.com, and got the Clouadflare browser check deal, it has been only a matter of 4 to 8 seconds in the past, but this time I got the message WEBSITE IS DON, or the lie. I closed out and cleared and afer 20 or more seconds, I got the same thing the website is not running. So I agoain cleared, did a google searhc for Flightsim.com and selected a Cache version, nothing. after trying several more times, I got in--so was the site actually Closed/Shutdown/ not working for a while around 7AM Mountain time of jan 19trh or is this cloudflare something messing with flightsim.com, I looked at cloudflare website, and it is usless as it asks for name nd password. I am NOT ultra tech, so I do not understand what is going on. I am also asking to see if you are aware of this Denial of entry and statement that Flightsim.com was DOWN at times stated--thanks
