    Active Sky 2016

Active Sky 2016 (AS16) represents the culmination of 16 years of weather simulation engine development! New In-Cloud Motion Effects, Weather Scenarios System, Airborne Weather Radar, P3D v3 Visibility Smoothing and Volumetric Fog Integration, Navigraph Data Integration, Re-designed Map-based Custom Weather Editing System, Universal Web Companion App, an Improved Mapping System and a High-Latitude Cloud Squeeze Fix are just a few of the new features to debut in this brand new version of Active Sky.

Beyond the many new features, AS16 also extends and improves all aspects of weather simulation and depiction, from data parsing, to synthesis, interpolation, depiction, performance, and everything in-between, your entire weather experience will be more realistic than ever before.

AS16 also incorporates full integration with Active Sky Cloud Art (ASCA), our brand new graphics add-on for both FSX and P3D. ASCA includes cloud textures, sky textures, and brand new 3D cloud models to transform your skies, while also debuting a ground-breaking new feature when used in combination with AS16: Real-Time Dynamic Cloud and Sky Textures! This enables realistic weather-influenced texture variation that reloads throughout your flight without needing to shut down and restart your simulator. You can use any graphics add-on(s) with AS16, but dynamic texture reloads require the AS16+ASCA combination.

Upgrade versions are also available. Previous eligible product license is required for the upgrade version! You must have a valid license key for ASE, AS2012 or ASN.

I find it inexplicable that upgrade licences are only available through the original seller. I deal with a couple of providers and one of them has not in the past provided me with good service and I do not wish to use him again. Why should I have to pay more when both of the other sellers are excellent.

$60 for virgin customers. Must be amazing... I think I will stay with current NEXT weather and old REX clouds, soft and hard.

I made the upgrade from ASN yesterday to AS16 (FSX and P3D) and Cloud Art. So far I think it is well worth the discounted price on both. Right now I am using the auto feature that injects weather influenced textures in real time. Not disappointed at all. I haven't seen the VC cloud effect as I did with ASN...getting the cloud popping effect inside the VC while passing through heavy overcast. Instead, the clouds pass over the wind screen as they should. The only issue I have seen so far is a pop up message at the first start of AS16 that indicates AS16 needs a internet connection to function properly. I have to close this message and restart AS16 for it to work properly. This has happened any time I reboot my pc and try to start AS16. HiFi is looking into this already. All in all, I am very pleased with the additional functions of AS16 and cloud art.

Contact HiFi directly and describe your situation and see if there is something you can do for this.
