People contact us with concerns about the speed of their connection or download speed from FlightSim.Com. Since our servers are monitored 24 hours a day it's rare that there be any long term problem at our end, but it's not unusual for various parts of the Internet to be slow from time to time and that will affect your connection to some, but often not all, web sites.
If you would like to test your actual connection speed, here are three diagnostics you can use from your browser:
1) http://dfs1.flightsim.com/speedtest/mini
2) http://www.speedtest.net (general internet speedtest
server)
The first diagnostic will test your speed connecting to FlightSim.Com. The second is a link to a testing service that can test your connection to anywhere on the Internet.
If you are not able to connect to 1 or 2, we would like to hear from you via email to [email protected] with the following information:
- Your IP address from www.whatismyip.com
- traceroute to www.flightsim.com
Directions: Click the "Start" button in Windows and enter "cmd.exe" in the search window and press Enter. At the command prompt, type "tracert www.flightsim.com" followed by the Enter key. Once it has completed and returned to the prompt, click the icon in the upper left hand of the window, click Edit and then "Select All". This will reverse video the window. Then, click the same icon, click "Edit" and then "Copy". You can now paste the output into your email and send it to us. Please do not forget to add your IP address to the email. Thank you for your help!
