In the above picture Manhattan is clearly visible, but can you notice something different about the scenery? Do some large parts of the scenery look much different than other parts? If you answered yes then you're correct! On the left New Jersey looks like default FSX scenery, but Manhattan and the rest of New York look somewhat more refined and colorful. New York State's night-scenery is updated with real topographic databases and using 3D-light modelling New York State's night scenery has been revolutionized!

The traditional pilot can look at a map and know how to navigate across vast areas strategically by looking at certain symbols and shaded areas as well as lines and other shapes you would normally find on a VFR sectional chart. One way they do this is by noticing specific roads/highways or major metropolitan areas and other terrain features, then comparing the map to the outside and finding a visual reference and continuing on to another area once you are sure of your position. This is called pilotage and is a type of pilot navigation critical for pilots to know. Now a days we do have GPS devices and backup radio-aids to navigation, but when all else fails you should be able to turn to your map and know where you are.

At night, darkness makes everything, well, of course, dark! What you mainly see at night are lights from roads, highways, and cities. These big light sources at night are at the center of navigating using visual references at night. Without electronic navigation devices this is your main means of navigating. Flight Simulator's night scenery provides most main roads, highways, and cities with light features at night and you can navigate your way around the sim using its default state. Its look though may seem slightly unrealistic because Flight Simulator cannot include every minor detail of the world, you may have bland one-toned colors of cities, and highways that curve in extreme angles which can be difficult to distinguish from one another. Yes, you'll still be able to notice highways and cities but it may not be that fun.

    Aerosoft's Night Environment Scenery

Aerosoft's Night Environment comes in and totally transforms scenery's night environments, making whole cities or states life-like at night in the same amount of detail you may see in payware add-on sceneries. Night Environment uses highly-detailed topographic data resulting in the night scenery feeling 100% real.

Night flying is visually much different from flying during the day, because only lighted areas are visible, thus a much different part of the world is visible at night, almost like some parts of the scenery just don't exist! Aerosoft's Night Environment really does make the night scenery vibrant and realistic.

Aerosoft has created many different Night Environment sceneries including:

    • Pennsylvania
    • New York
    • New Jersey
    • Poland
    • Portugal
    • Spain
    • Norway
    • Sweden
    • Denmark
    • Alps
    • Italy
    • California
    • Greece
    • Dubai
    • Israel
    • British Isles
    • Germany
    • BeNeLux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg)

These sceneries are for use with Flight Simulator X or Prepar3D. These Night Environment sceneries cover cities or even entire states or countries.
