• Review: CZST - Stewart

From a higher viewpoint, you get a great idea of the kind of scenery this part of the world has to offer. No wonder people from all over the world travel to this neck of the woods to get away from it all. Wouldn't you go?

Moving away from the town and heading along the Glacier Highway you reach The Port of Stewart. Here you will find the main building, plus small jetties and boats. As in the town, the detailing on the main building and loading structure is highly impressive.

Our last stop is the Hyder Seaplane Base located about one mile away from the district of Hyder.

    Night Lighting

To really appreciate the night lighting used throughout the scenery, HDR mode must be enabled. Now, HDR comes at a performance price, so if you have difficulty running the package without HDR, then maybe it's best to live without it. However, for those of you who are lucky enough to be able to select this mode, the results are extremely pleasing, as you can see from the screen shots.

    Issues

It's always difficult when reviewing a package of this quality to find things which could be considered 'issues', and even if one does happen to find something, it tends to be trivial and borders on pinickity. So were there any issues or problems? Well...yes, there was one, that being a ground texture that was slightly out of alignment. This created the affect of a gap between the road. No big deal, but worth mentioning.

So after all my praise, is there anything I would like to see in future releases or patches? Definitely...winter textures, but this is highly unlikely until X-Plane itself comes packaged with seasonal textures, something X-Plane users have been dying for.

    Performance

I found the performance of the package entirely acceptable. Unlike other scenery packages which you might find in large cities, there is really only one major load area, Stewart itself. Selecting HDR mode is going to give you grief unless you have a graphics card which enjoys working out! The good thing about the scenery though, is that it is highly scalable so you can configure it to your liking.

    Conclusion

After reading the review it's not hard to work out that I really enjoyed this scenery package. For years I have dreamed of having Orbx quality scenery in X-Plane, and now finally, after years of waiting, my wish and the wishes of countless other X-Plane users has come true. I can only hope, that Stewart by beti-X is the first of many high quality sceneries to emerge for X-Plane.
