    Exploring The Scenery

    The best way to view the scenery and really appreciate the work involved in this creation is to use X-Plane's Free Camera view. By selecting this option, you can walk around the scenery, even jump up and hover if need be (Inspector Gadget, eat your heart out) and it really is a great way of seeing everything the area has to offer. So, leaving the aircraft in the hangar for a while, let's go and explore!

    The first time you see beti-X's Stewart, you will be amazed....trust me on that one! This is a scenery which will make you lean back in your chair, fold your arms behind your head and think, at last...real eye candy! It really is that good. With settings set at their recommended level, your vista looks as glorious as a big cheeseburger after a day of walking with no food! The amount of detail the team have managed to produce is simply staggering. The runway, with rendering settings set at extreme, really does look real. This was something I had only previously seen in scenery created by Orbx. With X-Plane's ability to produce HDR lighting and dynamic shadows the end result was nothing short of mind-blowing. Even when viewed close up, the runway still looks detailed.

           

    Another nice feature, is the fact that the runway is not perfectly flat. X-Plane's ability to create sloped runways works well here, and the developers have put it to good use, with Stewart's runway having noticeable bumps. Walking over the runway, it's nice to see that the markings, whilst well marked, look decidedly weather-beaten. On both sides of the runway, shrubbery has been well placed and casts atmospheric shadows over the asphalt as the sun sets.

           

    Moving into the town you again can't help but be impressed by the scenery. Buildings are highly authentic and resemble their real life counterparts to a high standard. Indeed, after comparing the real Stewart in Google Earth with the rendition offered by beti-X, I would say the developers have done an outstanding job!
