    Introduction

When it comes to flight simulation scenery design, one name really stands out: Orbx. That group of talented individuals have been producing quality scenery for quite some time now, and FSX/P3D users have been spoilt by the amount of eye candy that they have managed to create. Many X-Plane users have also seen the pictures and watched the videos of this incredible scenery, and thought...when will it be X-Plane's turn to have something which looks this good? Well, my X-Plane friends, the time is now, and the scenery is Stewart CZST by beti-X.

There are few places on earth where outstanding natural beauty is in close proximity to an airport, but Stewart Airport in British Columbia is one of them. At the end of the Portland Canal, almost on the border between the USA and Canada, there lies the small town of Stewart. It is home to a small, but well-known and popular airport, which is guarded, on either side, by tall, majestic mountains.

When you combine the challenging terrain with the changeable, and often hostile, weather which frequently inhabits this region, each approach and departure into this remote airport can be a real challenge for the most seasoned of flyers. But, if like me, Stewart is going to be a stop off point here on your flights around British Columbia and Alaska, or if it becomes your home airport where you will take some helicopter sight-seeing flights around the close vicinity, rest assured that you will fall in love with this incredible scenery.

    System Requirements:

    • 3 GHz multi core CPU or better - 4 GB RAM
    • Direct X 10 compatible Graphics Card with 1 GB VRAM
    • X-Plane 10 version 10.25 or newer

    Review System:

    • iMac i7 3.9 GHz
    • Nvidia 750 GT 1GB
    • 16 GB RAM
    • OSX 10.9.1
    • X-Plane 10.25

    Installation

Installation, like most X-Plane add-ons, was an easy affair, with unzipping and copying the only tasks to complete. Once the three folders have been copied to your X-Plane directory, you are ready to run X-Plane and enjoy the fabulous scenery. But before you buckle your seat belt, I advise a read of the enclosed PDF manual. It gives you a great deal of information regarding the scenery and includes tips on how to maximise the experience for your particular setup. One thing to remember - and the documentation mentions this - is that if you are using the HD Mesh Scenery v2 by Andras Fabian, make sure that his mesh is set lower than the installed scenery. This is done by simply checking your scenery_packs.ini in any text editor.

    Documentation

As mentioned above, there is a PDF document, which covers the installation process, airport information (including charts) and also scenery coverage.

    Scenery Coverage

The red line (above, right) indicates the border of the scenery which contains 50 cm per pixel photo-scenery. This resolution is displayed in the simulator when textures are set in the rendering options menu to Extreme res! The blue line is the border of the coverage with handcrafted ground imagery with a resolution of 2 cm per pixel. Again, this resolution is displayed in the simulator when textures settings are set to Extreme res.
