    With the introduction of the Airbus competitor with its new two-story, large aircraft (over 400 seats), the Airbus A380, Boeing came under pressure. In 2004 Boeing developed a more advanced version of the 747-400, referred to as the 747 Advanced, and was back as a serious competitor to the Airbus A380. On 14 November 2005, officially launched the project under the name of 747-8.

    All models in this package have a fully functional cockpit including:

    • Five multi-function displays
    • Center console with FMC, radio display with transponders, trim and engine thrust lever control
    • Yoke with controllable switches
    • Upper panel with nearly 100 real switches
    • "Seatbelt" and "No Smoking" sign with acoustic sound
    • Autopilot features: ILS, FD, ALT, VS, HDG, NAV, speed, Mach, Loc, autothrottle / Master, QNH
    • HUD - Display: artificial horizon, velocity, G, Mach, TAS, IAS, compass, QNH, height, pitch
    • 2D panel in the resolution 1280x720 px / 3D panel with 1024x1024 px textures

    FMC (Flight Management Computer) Features:

    • 15 different menus
    • Gauge of miscellaneous flight parameter
    • Use of flight plan
    • Calculation of courses analogical wind, high-level and aerodrome of destination
    • Follow of waypoints
    • Course gauge and autopilot control

    Other Features Include:

    • All models are for the Microsoft Flight Simulator FS2004 and FSX
    • Detailed external and internal model including Virtual Cockpit
    • Animations in the external model: flaps, slats, spoilers, three cabin doors and two hatches, animated gear
    • Extensive lighting effects of windows and exterior lighting
    • Exterior lighting: Beacon-, Strobes-, Nav-, Landing- and Taxi- Lights
    • Virtual Cockpit: panel light, window reflections, highly detailed, including avionics for radio navigation
    • Panel with FMC ( Flight Management Computer ) and GPS ( Global Positioning System )
    • Engine thrust reverser including animation and realistic flight dynamics

      PMDG 747-8i for the win.
      Wonder if they will release a v2 for that as well.

      I'm trying to fathom why someone would spend $27.00 on a product when there's a freeware model of superior quality? The AFS designers appear to lack the ability to create a realistic cockpit environment. IMO, their models do not warrent consideration for purchase. In short, this is NO WHERE close to payware quality.

      Yes that's their plan, PMDG is going to treat 747v2 like the NGX, the 400/F at launch with the 8i/F coming later, separate folders, panel, .air, and .cfg

      There are a lot of rookie simmers out there that are ignorant of alternatives or automatically view payware = better.

      Abacus did sell their "Dreamliner" in surprising quantity, for a while they were the only game in town. You can't underestimate the gullibility of people out there.

      I think AFS' approach with the 747-8i/F is that people will look at the options...

      PMDG 747-8: FSX expansion , requires FSX 747-400, uses 747-400 .cfg, etc.
      SkySpirit 747-8i/FreeSky 747-8F: free, no VC...FSX users can merge default though.

      FS2004 users eager to VC fly the 8i/F would be inclined to pick it up (FS9 doesn't support VC merging.)

      For FSX mainly the newer clique to the hobby who can't afford PMDG and sneer at freeware simply because it's free, will pick this up.
