Flying an early jetliner is a different experience from flying modern aircraft, and for those FSX or Prepar3D pilots who would like a taste, reviewer Michael Hayward recommends the Douglas DC-8 available from Aerosoft. He found that the model faithfully recreates the experience of flying a vintage jet and that flying it was an "absolute joy".
Just in time for winter, Orbx announces the release of Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport in Sweden for Prepar3D v4. This is a true all-season airport, taking full advantage of P3D v4's PBR texturing, SODE runways and plenty of other features.
Each December we pick some of our favorite reviews and run them again as our "Gift Guide" series to give you some ideas for things flightsimmers might really like. A2A Simulations are of course well known for their outstanding general aviation aircraft, and their Accu-Sim V35B Bonanza is no exception. Available for both FSX and Prepar3D, our reviewer Ray Andersen enjoyed flying it in P3D so much that we gave it our first Award of Excellence for 2019. Ray goes into great detail on just why this plane should be added to your hangar.
Jetstream Designs has posted news about their scenery of Orly Airport for FSX and Prepar3D. The real world airport is undergoing some major changes and they are working hard to make their scenery match these changes.
Skyline Simulations announces the release of CYTZ - Billy Bishop Porter Airport P3D/FSX. Billy Bishop City Airport is a small regional airport located on Toronto Island in Canada. The second name of the airport is Toronto island airport. The scenery features custom textures, detailed 3D models, dynamic lighting in P3D, animated CN Tower colors and many other features.
Aerosoft announces the release of A330 Professional, the big brother of the ubiquitous A320, for Prepar3D v4.5. The project is a development for 64-bit platforms and uses the very latest of technology. While a follow-on to their A320 product, you will find many systems are redone to a higher level of detail.
The A72-500 Series is just the type of aircraft that Carenado is well known for, and a perfect regional turboprop for flightsim use. Reviewer Alex Dickinson really likes the model and enjoys flying it, though it's not quite perfect. It's an interesting plane to fly and features an excellent sound package, lots of liveries and other details.
Since Just Flight announced their F28 Fellowship for FSX and Prepar3D back in April they have been providing regular updates of their progress. Today they offer a few more in development screen shots showing details of the exterior and effects of PBR.
SIMstarter NG from Aerosoft has a "Flight Control Center" to create profiles and configuration sets customized by aircraft and location. Another benefit is that you stay in control of your configuration because SIMstarter NG handles your configuration (a copy of it). With every simulator start you will have a nice and clean simulator configuration. An updated v1.9.5.2 is now available.
Orbx is making good progress on their scenery ESGG Gothenburg Landvetter for Prepar3D v4 and has offered up some new screen shots to show it off. Given the wintry weather frequently found in the area, the screen shots show off the different season and weather effects.
Rather than following the crowd, Alabeo is holding their Year End Sale now rather that closer to the holidays. For a short time the entire Alabeo fleet is available for 50% off the regular price. Alabeo offers a nice selection of light planes to fill your FSX, Prepar3D or X-Plane hangar.
SimWorks Studios just wrote us to let us know about their upcominig T-37B Tweet for Prepar3D v4 which is expected to be released around Christmas. From cutting-edge visuals, to detailed systems simulation & flight modelling, the SWS Tweet will be the most comprehensive simulation of the Tweet since its classic representation in FS2004!
News from Orbx is that the classic Earth Simulations Alderney is being brought back to life for FSX and Prepar3D. This version is greatly enhanced over the original with super accurate water masking, superb ortho imagery and a brand new airport made by the Turbulent Aviation team.
News from MK-Studios is that progress is being made on their Tenerife North scenery for Prepar3D. They admit that it is taking a while and that it is still a work in progress, with PBR not present yet. A few screen shots are offered to show progress.
Now available at the FlightSim.Com Store from CentralSim is Captain Moreno Air Base SKPQ, a Colombia Air Force Base assigned to Combat Air Command No. 1 or CACOM 1. It features photoreal ground, vehicle and building textures, airport objects, navaids, dynamic lights and more.
