This Day in Aviation--FH Phantom First Flight

    On this day in 1945, the McDonnell FH Phantom made its first flight. The Phantom was a twinjet fighter aircraft designed and first flown during World War II for the United States Navy. The Phantom was the first purely jet-powered aircraft to land on an American aircraft carrier.

    DC3 Airways Plans Recreation Of Berlin Airlift

    This February, virtual airline DC3 Airways will recreate the 1948/49 Berlin Airlift. A series of flights are planned using a total of 14 airfields, with some flights in bad weather and some at night, adhering as far as possible to the conditions and events of the period.

    IndiaFoxtEcho FSX/P3D Aircraft Now Freeware

    Last summer IndiaFoxtEcho announced that they were withdrawing their FSX and Prepar3D products from sale. Today they have released the first batch of them as freeware, as a sign of gratitude to the flightsim community for their support over the years. Additional planes will be released at a later date.

    This Day in Aviation: Amelia Earhart Flys The Pacific

    On this day in aviation history, in 1935, Amelia Earhart became the first aviator to fly solo from Hawaii to California. Though tried unsuccessfully before, her Lockheed Vega performed well, making it a routine flight. FSX users might enjoy flying the same plane using the freeware version in our file library.
