Boundless Simulations announces the release of Irish Helipads for X-Plane 11. This scenery package is the culmination of over six months of work and includes 12 helipads and locations across Ireland that are used by rescue helicopters for medical purposes. Each one poses a unique challenge, especially in wet and windy Irish weather!
Scenery designer UK2000 has decided to suspend scenery development for X-Plane 11 effective immediately. As a one man shop, supporting four simulators is proving to be too much. Development will continue for FSX, Prepar3D and MSFS 2020 and past X-Plane products will continue to be available.
Last fall we asked you to take part in the FlightSim Community 202 Survey. Organized by Navigraph and co-sponsored by a long list of flightsim businesses and organizations, this comprehensive survey dug deep into the interests of the flightsim community. After some delay, the final survey results are now published, showing the answers provided by some 23,500 respondents.
X-Plane developer Nimbus Simulations enters the new year with big plans. This year is their 10th anniversary and lots of releases are planned, including the UH-1 v1.5 and UH-1 civilian version, Dulles Airport plus JFK, Memphis and Charlotte, three smaller airports and the Dornier Do-28. They also have plans to move into MSFS 2020 projects.
DigitalThemePark announces the Rocky Mountains "Sawtooth" Weekend Achievement Flights. Join this group flight with MSFS 2020, FSX, P3D or X-Plane and follow the winding rivers and valleys in Idaho and Montana. You'll need a bush plane capable of handling short runways and twisting terrain as you tour below the canyon rim level.
Aerosoft turns to a scenic series of German coastal islands with its X-Plane 11 scenery title German Islands 1 East Frisia. The islands have small GA airports and gliding schools, giving lots of places to last while exploring the coastal region. Airfoillabs has presented an update on their progress on the iconic Dakota airplane. New screen shots show the state of the 3D model and PBR texturing, both inside and out. They report the flight model is ready, but not all systems are finished and as they want this to be a study-level aircraft it won't be released until all this is finished.
X-Plane aircraft developer ToLiss has updated their A321 to version 1.2.1. This is mainly a bug fixing update, but it has some new features. These includes things like added AP TCAS mode, soft go around mode, NEO cockpit specific changes, etc.
Just Flight reports that the X-Plane version of 146 Professional is progressing nicely and they wanted to show off some new screen shots of the jetliner. Included are views of the interior and exterior, including some previews of the cockpit backlighting and passenger cabin.

VSKYLABS has posted a small update on their VSL Base-5 project for X-Plane 11. Active construction of the base is underway, in preparation for use by their ATV (Advanced Terrain Vehicle) project as well as helicopters and other aircraft.
Verticalsim announces the release of v2.1 of their Tampa International (KTPA) scenery for X-Plane 11. The terminals have been completely revamped with new HD textures and all textures have been converted to .dds files for better VRAM performance.
Boundless Simulations announces the release of their newest scenery for X-Plane 11, Alderney Airport And Island. The package includes both the airport (EGJA) and the entire island of Alderney in the Channel Islands. Many island landmarks are including such as Essex Castle, various forts, hotels, churches, schools, etc. all custom made with HD textures.
Some time ago, FlyJSim announced SharedFlight, a new product for X-Plane that brings multi-crew pilot operations to flight simulator, as seamlessly as possible and aiming to support all popular and quality aircraft. Development has been quietly underway and they've now released their roadmap for 2021.
Supercritical Simulations Group (SSG) continues to improve their 747-8 with the release of v2.2.1. This X-Plane jetliner now has an improved flight model to behave better in crosswinds, new cockpit buttons/switch animations and sounds, a new cabin and more.
