Orbx has announced that scenery of EG41 Fishburn Airfield is now available for X-Plane 11 as freeware. This is a small grass strip in County Durham, opened in 1995, and named "airfield of the year" by Flyer magazine in 2004. Created by Stefan Schroen and Sandro De Sarro who developed EG20 Clench Common.
Today we would like to welcome a new developer to the FlightSim.Com Store. oliXsim creates classic aircraft for X-Plane 11 and we now have two of them on offer at the store, the Lockheed Lodestar Model 18 and the Junker Ju52/3m. Those who like round engines will surely enjoy these aircraft.
Now available at the FlightSim.Com Store from Skyline Simulations is LGSM - Samos Airport for X-Plane 11. Also known as Aristarchos Airport, it's a challenging destination with a short runway often affected by strong winds. The airport features UHD custom textures, custom mesh, PBR materials on every building, custom grass and trees and much more.
New scenery developer Origami Studios announces that they are working on Gatwick Airport for X-Plane 11. Gatwick is unique for its high-density single-runway operations, and an interesting labyrinth of architectural developments that make up its north and south terminals. It will feature 4K PBR ground textures, moving ground traffic, SAM compatibility, etc.
As a follow-up to their two new products just released, Boundless Simulations has announced what their next projects will be. In development is scenery of Palm Springs (KSPS) and Shannon (EINN) airports. These are expected to be available for X-Plane 11 in a few months.
Boundless Simulations announces the release of a major new version of their EGBB - Birmingham Airport scenery for X-Plane 11. This is their largest and most detailed project to date in recreating this busy airport that is the gateway to the Midlands. The details extend beyond the airport to include Birmingham international Station, nearby hotels, offices, warehouses, the NEC and Resorts World Arena.
Boundless Simulations announces the release of Irish Helipads for X-Plane 11. This scenery package is the culmination of over six months of work and includes 12 helipads and locations across Ireland that are used by rescue helicopters for medical purposes. Each one poses a unique challenge, especially in wet and windy Irish weather!
Scenery designer UK2000 has decided to suspend scenery development for X-Plane 11 effective immediately. As a one man shop, supporting four simulators is proving to be too much. Development will continue for FSX, Prepar3D and MSFS 2020 and past X-Plane products will continue to be available.
Last fall we asked you to take part in the FlightSim Community 202 Survey. Organized by Navigraph and co-sponsored by a long list of flightsim businesses and organizations, this comprehensive survey dug deep into the interests of the flightsim community. After some delay, the final survey results are now published, showing the answers provided by some 23,500 respondents.
X-Plane developer Nimbus Simulations enters the new year with big plans. This year is their 10th anniversary and lots of releases are planned, including the UH-1 v1.5 and UH-1 civilian version, Dulles Airport plus JFK, Memphis and Charlotte, three smaller airports and the Dornier Do-28. They also have plans to move into MSFS 2020 projects.
DigitalThemePark announces the Rocky Mountains "Sawtooth" Weekend Achievement Flights. Join this group flight with MSFS 2020, FSX, P3D or X-Plane and follow the winding rivers and valleys in Idaho and Montana. You'll need a bush plane capable of handling short runways and twisting terrain as you tour below the canyon rim level.
Aerosoft turns to a scenic series of German coastal islands with its X-Plane 11 scenery title German Islands 1 East Frisia. The islands have small GA airports and gliding schools, giving lots of places to last while exploring the coastal region. Reviewer Wycliffe Barrett provides us both a video and text review while he enjoys flying the area.
Airfoillabs has presented an update on their progress on the iconic Dakota airplane. New screen shots show the state of the 3D model and PBR texturing, both inside and out. They report the flight model is ready, but not all systems are finished and as they want this to be a study-level aircraft it won't be released until all this is finished.
X-Plane aircraft developer ToLiss has updated their A321 to version 1.2.1. This is mainly a bug fixing update, but it has some new features. These includes things like added AP TCAS mode, soft go around mode, NEO cockpit specific changes, etc.
Just Flight reports that the X-Plane version of 146 Professional is progressing nicely and they wanted to show off some new screen shots of the jetliner. Included are views of the interior and exterior, including some previews of the cockpit backlighting and passenger cabin.
