Rumor had that more than 85 million dollars worth of new construction was in progress while we were there. You could see signs of it behind construction curtains, but it didn't interfere with anything the WarBirds crowd was doing.

At the service desk they instantly knew the bunch I was looking for, and as Dave "Prophet" Williams put it so kindly in the new WarBirds book, these guys are "the most raucous, vocal, dedicated, frustrating, fun, and intelligent group of folks you are likely to meet anywhere". The service manager on duty pointed me to the Paladian room. That name certainly seemed appropriate.

As I entered the room, it became clear how serious this event was going to be. Four rows of tables had been placed end-to-end in rows of two down each side of the room. There is enough space to walk between them and connect power & networks. Teams could sit beside and across from each other during battle.

The WarBirds War Room

Previous -1- Next
