The Where In The World series challenge from Ron Blehm continues into the new year. Last month's challenge was the largest airport in the Green Mountain State and quite a few people were able to get it right. This month's challenge may require some knowledge of history as well as geography. Are you up to the challenge?
In this video, video team member thecorporatepilotdad takes a look at the Working Title CJ4 Mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This mod takes the default MSFS 2020 CJ4 bizjet and makes it much more realistic. The video is part review and part tutorial, showing how to do a VNAV and ILS approach. The author flies a plane using the same avionics in real life and was impressed with the realism found here.
Aerosoft turns to a scenic series of German coastal islands with its X-Plane 11 scenery title German Islands 1 East Frisia. The islands have small GA airports and gliding schools, giving lots of places to last while exploring the coastal region. Reviewer Wycliffe Barrett provides us both a video and text review while he enjoys flying the area.
Thrustmaster makes quite a range of nice control devices. In this review, Raymond Andersen examines their TCA Officers Pack Airbus Edition to see how well they replicate a set of modern jetliner controls. He found it to be a superb and high quality package that was easy to set up and use and recommends it to other demanding flightsim enthusiasts.
Today we welcome a new member to the FlightSim.Com Video Team. Known as thecorporatepilotdad, he has over twenty years experience as a flightsimmer and over 7000 real world flying hours in planes ranging from the C152 to bizjets. The first video tutorial we have to present is his complete TBM 930 tutorial for that default plane in MSFS 2020, covering everything about flying the aircraft.
The MB-339 from developer IndiaFoxtEcho is the first military aircraft add-on for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Despite being somewhat held back by the current state of the MSFS 2020 SDK, reviewer Dale Ashcroft found the plane to be exceptional. It's not a study level aircraft but it is still created to a high standard, both in how it functions and in how it looks and sounds.
Boundless Simulations announces the release of Irish Helipads for X-Plane 11. This scenery package is the culmination of over six months of work and includes 12 helipads and locations across Ireland that are used by rescue helicopters for medical purposes. Each one poses a unique challenge, especially in wet and windy Irish weather!
The regular weekly Microsoft Flight Simulator development update has just been released. The next Feature Discover Series video on aerodynamics has been postponed. The update contains the usual info on SDK progress, marketplace additions and also interviews with two of Microsoft's community managers.
Taburet has created quite a range of airfields for MSFS 2020 and today adds another one. Bembridge Airfield offers the only hard surface runway on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. The airfield gives Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots a starting point to explore the island.
Progress continues at Just Flight on their upcoming Arrow III for MSFS 2020. Great progress is being made on the model and the PBR textures look great on the new screen shots in Microsoft Flight Simulator. About 70% of aircraft systems have been finished and work is also continuing on flight dynamics and sounds.
We had not heard anything from IRIS Simulations in a while, but it looks like they are back and developing aircraft for MSFS 2020. Recently announced is the F/A-39 Vampire, a concept coming from the mind of Industrial Designer, Rodrigo Avella. Development appears to be well under way and will make an exciting ride for Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots.
A new Spanish destination will soon be available for Microsoft Flight Simulator. TDM Scenery Design has announced that they have started development of their next major airport, LEVC Valencia, for MSFS 2020. Some team members actually live in Valencia so it's a special project for them. Work also continues on Oscar Machado Zuloaga SVCZ in Venezuela.
Scenery designer UK2000 has decided to suspend scenery development for X-Plane 11 effective immediately. As a one man shop, supporting four simulators is proving to be too much. Development will continue for FSX, Prepar3D and MSFS 2020 and past X-Plane products will continue to be available.
Following on from the most recent MSFS 2020 update which added virtual reality, SoFly is proud to release a brand new free update for their Guide To Flight Simulator. Version 1.80 includes new information on compatible and recommended hardware, tips to get the best performance and also recommended settings.
Last fall we asked you to take part in the FlightSim Community 202 Survey. Organized by Navigraph and co-sponsored by a long list of flightsim businesses and organizations, this comprehensive survey dug deep into the interests of the flightsim community. After some delay, the final survey results are now published, showing the answers provided by some 23,500 respondents.
Stairport Sceneries appears to be finishing up their MSFS 2020 scenery for Greater Moncton Airport (CYQM). Today we have some new screen shots showing details of the airport buildings. They expect to have this available to Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots in about a week.
X-Plane developer Nimbus Simulations enters the new year with big plans. This year is their 10th anniversary and lots of releases are planned, including the UH-1 v1.5 and UH-1 civilian version, Dulles Airport plus JFK, Memphis and Charlotte, three smaller airports and the Dornier Do-28. They also have plans to move into MSFS 2020 projects.
