    While we're stuck at home due to the coronavirus, A2A Simulations has been generous enough to offer one of their great Accu-sim aircraft, the P-40 Warhawk, for free. Author Ian Radcliffe, while a big A2A fan, had never tried this plane before but grabbed it now and felt obligated to give A2A a "thank you".

    Review: Turbulent Designs TerraFlora XP

    TerraFlora, which is available from Turbulent Design for X-Plane, FSX and Prepar3D, is one of those products that improves the look of the entire world. In this case, it's trees that get improved, making scenery more accurate in color and variety. Reviewer Michael Hayward tries the X-Plane version and was quite impressed with the results.

    Review: Aerosoft - Geneva Professional

    Geneva Professional from Aerosoft lets Prepar3D v4 pilots fly into Switzerland's second busiest airport, located close to the towering Alps. Reviewer Alex Dickinson found it to be highly accurate and well modeled, with smooth frame rates and fun to fly into.

    Review: Orbx Orcas Island

    Orcas Island was one of the earliest Orbx sceneries, and the area itself is one of the favorites of reviewer Shawn Weigelt. The original version, though, was for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Shawn wanted a version for X-Plane. Well, that is now available and Shawn was very pleased to find that is lives up to expectations.

    Robin Tannahill has been busy doing aircraft repaints for X-Plane and in this series of articles he shares his techniques. To be able to repaint you need basic skills in some graphics utility. In this part, he introduces GIMP, a freeware tool with lots of features, most important being layers, as you will learn when you read the tutorial.

    Review: Canada4XPlane - CYQB Quebec City Int'l

    The first flight simulator scenery release from new developer Canada4XPlane is a winner, says reviewer Jennifer Kimball. The scenery is of CYQB - Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport, the main airport in that region of Canada. The scenery offers excellent detail, beautiful night ambiance and an overall realistic feel that makes is a great place to start exploring Canada.

    Review: Bristol 170 Freighter

    While not the prettiest plane in the sky, the Bristol 170 Freighter does its job of hauling things quite well, and makes for a good flying experience for FSX and Prepar3D pilots who enjoy older aircraft. Reviewer Mike Hart found the experience fun and interesting and the plane from FSAddon well made.

    Review: Just Flight - DR400 Robin

    The DR400 Robin created for X-Plane (and also for FSX/P3D) by Just Flight is one of the great values for GA pilots. Reviewer Jennifer Kimball found it to be "ridiculously fun", and a very capable VFR and IFR platform. The plane is well equipped and looks good as well, coming with a nice variety of liveries.

  • Deadstick - Development Update Part 3

    Here's an update on another flight simulator under development. Deadstick, based around bush pilot flying, has published a lengthy update on progress. With a focus on being the pilot, the update covers things like briefings, pre-flight walk-arounds, towing the plane, etc. It's interesting to see this somewhat different take on what a flightsim should be.

    Microsoft Flight Simulator March 26th Development Update

    The latest Microsoft Flight Simulator progress update has been released. The first news is that Episode 7 (Multiplayer) of the discovery video series is now available for viewing. Episode 8 (IFR) will be coming in mid-April. Also released is the roadmap for April through May and a snapshot of feedback.

    Virtavia - B-24 Liberator for Prepar3D

    New for Prepar3D v3 and v4 from Virtavia is the famous warbird, the B-24 Liberator. One of the most important Allied planes of WWII, it is now available with native 3D models and flight dynamics. A variety of B-24 liveries are included plus a C-87 Liberator Express and C-109 tanker.

    Torquesim - BN-2 Islander Development Update 1

    While other developers like to just tease, Torquesim has provided an update on their BN-2 Islander for X-Plane 11 with lots of details and a nice group of screen shots to show the progress so far. Images includes both the exterior and interior. The cockpit will be available with classic steam gauges or a modern AFM G5 setup.

    Orbx - openLC Africa Released

    Orbx has been telling us about this scenery for a long time and now finally openLC Africa is available for FSX/P3D. It transforms the landclass in your sim to better match the real world, and provides a much richer experience for details as you fly over its stunning landscape. This makes Africa much more representative of the real world, regardless of the type of flying you do in the region.

Since 2011 Sierrasim Simulation has created scenery for FSX and Prepar3D, using satellite imagery to make the environment as real as possible.     Navigraph Announces Simmers Without Borders

    Donate computing power to speed up the search for a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. Navigraph announces the project Simmers Without Borders. A group of developers at Navigraph have started a pro bono initiative inviting all members of the international flight simulation community to donate computing power to speed up the search for a vaccine against the coronavirus.
