  2. Back To Basics Fly-In

I've been to many air shows and other aviation events over the years. Frankly, I got a bit tired of the "big" shows as they have in recent years become too commercialized...VIP seating, loud music, announcers who just won't shut up (I want to hear airplane noise!), etc. Shows in the past that were more about the planes were more fun.

  3. Spitfires to Prestwick: 15th March 1942

Despite a ‘bookful’ of flight simulations of the Air Transport Auxiliary (see In a Moon’s Course) I continue to be fascinated by the flights from this brief era of aviation. In part it is the aspect that these pilots flew advanced (for the period) aircraft with minimal training and sometimes little prior experience in the type. 5. Sinus 912 from Farewell

Here is a segment of a truly epic flight that is very much part of the present rather than the past. Matevz Lenarcic (I can’t type Matevž Lenarčič constantly) is a Slovenian multi-skilled adventurer; an alpinist, a paraglider, environmentalist and photographer who, in 2004, flew around the world solo in a motor glider, without ground support. He is also a private pilot and has an instrument rating.
