FS2004 DC-8 panel project.

Hi,

If anyone has downloaded and installed the above panel work by Ken Wigginton, could it be possible

to let me know how to make it show the Co-pilot panel ?

The author in the readme says it toggles with "W" keypad, but this maybe wrong, as it doesn't work.

Thanks for your time.

I will confirm what the README file says. The panel will change from pilot view to copilot view by hitting the W key. Did you change the default key control setting for the W key?

These shots are taken in FSX, so the panel isn't exactly perfect!

The W key brings only the Landing view, but no way the co-pilot's panel.

In the readme, did you notice that W shows both Landing view AND co-pilot's panel ?

Apparently written by mistake. But which key or key combination would do the job ?

And no, I did not change the default function of W key.

The W key is a cycling key, when used in default aircraft, will cycle between 2D panel-mini panel-clear view- then back to full 2D panel.

I tried all 3 of the panels in the download and they all cycle when hitting the W key from full panel-copilot panel-landing panel-clear view-full panel. (4 hits of the W key)

The README is correct when stating the W key brings up the different views.

Have you tried cycling through the views by hitting the A key?

No, A key does nothing. The W cycles as follows : landing view-clear-captains panel.

It is weird, as co-pilot.bmp and the respective window are contained in panel.cfg.

I reinstalled DC-8 panel without the side cockpit views (bmp), but still the problem

did not go away.

Is there a way to do anything in the panel.cfg to make it show?

OK, time to see if we are talking apples and apples not apples and oranges. Is this the download you are using? From the Library here.

My dear mrzippy there are no apples, oranges and other fruits.

The file downloaded and installed is the one you refer to. For some unknown reason

co-pilot panel doesn't show and is omitted during W key cycle. I check over and over again

the panel.cfg for any discrepancy, but I find nothing wrong. And I say again, the co-pilot.bmp is correctly placed in panel folder. The panel.cfg entry for co-pilot panel is there as well.

In your panel.cfg file, in the VIEWS section, change:

VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=Main Panel

to

VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=Main Panel, MAIN_PANEL_ALT1

That may be the problem

That may be a good idea! the copilot's window is actually labeled MAIN_PANEL_ALT1.

I did so, but it still did not work. Maybe a parameter change in panel.cfg in the co-pilot

entry should be changed :

//--------------------------------------------------------

[Window09]

file=co-pilot.bmp

file_1024=co-pilot.bmp

size_mm=800,624

window_size_ratio=1.000

position=0

visible=0

ident=MAIN_PANEL_ALT1

window_size= 1.000, 1.000

window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

zorder=1

but I am not a panel developer to be positive.

For testing purposes, being sure to back up [window09]....

maybe visible=0 change to 1 or maybe ident=MAIN_PANEL_ALT1 to ident=12345

I did so and many more similar changes-tests.

With visible=1 co-pilot panel appears but shows over the main panel in the background at flight start.

The solution must be simple but only for a developer, I think.

Did changing the ident= have any affect on showing the copilot view?

Did not quite understand the proposed entry "ident=12345". Do you mean ident=blank or

as is ident=12345 ?

Anyway, with ident=12345 did not work.

Meanwhile, I re-installed once more the whole panel yet with no success.

It's one of the most weird situations I have ever had to deal with during my 14-year simming "career".

Sorry that none of those attempts at changes helped! Just out of curiosity, if you start with a default aircraft, sit in the 2D cockpit and press the W key, will it cycle normally through the views?
